Speech on rainwater harvesting

At present, rainwater harvesting is a very important activity globally as the whole world is in dire need of water conservation and its wastage so that our future generations do not have to live in the absence of this natural resource. Since the topic is so important, it is considered appropriate to give a speech on rainwater harvesting.

Good morning everybody!

As we can see the monsoon has started, I would like to say a few words in the context of rainwater harvesting. We are all familiar with the fact that our earth is going through water scarcity and therefore, we all should make every effort to save it and rainwater harvesting is one of those efforts.

Rainwater harvesting can be done on a small scale and also on a large scale. It is not always necessary to create a separate construct if it is not possible. There are many benefits of storing rainwater, that is, for horticulture, household work, agriculture, reducing the consumption of main water sources such as rivers, etc., and more. This will eventually lead us to a better environment as the consumption of water bodies will reduce.

Also, I would like to conclude my speech by requesting all of you to harvest rainwater as it is for our own better, healthier environment and healthier earth.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Respected Principal, teachers and my dear friends!

Today, the beginning of the monsoon season and the meaning of the monsoon, this special gathering is organized to express our allegiance to rainwater, therefore, I would like to say a few words on this occasion for the importance of rainwater harvesting.

We all know that there is a scarcity of water on Earth and especially in freshwater bodies due to rising temperatures, superb use and wastage of water. There are many places in the world where people are facing drought. They also suffer for a sip of water, but where it has proper availability, there is a huge waste of water, which can quench thirst worldwide.

This is because the concept of rainwater harvesting started. Storage of rainwater and using it as an alternative to polluted water can make a lot of difference. We can cut it in any way and it can be used in agriculture, domestic works, gardening and everywhere where we need water.

Tamil Nadu has many traditional methods of harvesting rainwater in the form of temples. Tamil Nadu has made harvesting of rainwater an obligation due to water scarcity and hence it is an example for other states to take the same steps and fix rainwater harvesting channels across the country.

Thank you!

Good Morning Estimated panelist and respected listener – I welcome you all to a seminar on Rain Water Harvesting!

I, Rajesh Sharma – Chairman, Water Conservation Department, Jaipur, is your host for today. Rainwater harvesting is a very important activity. This includes collection as well as storage of rainwater in natural waters or man-made reservoirs to monitor overflow of surface water.

Another method of rainwater harvesting is known as roof harvesting. Used in roofing, surfaces such as metal sheets, tiles and plastics, except for the palm leaf or grass, to disrupt rainwater runoff and provide premium quality water for our homes to drink and provide possible perennial storage facilities. can be done.

There are other uses which include water for irrigation, gardens, livestock etc. The following are the reasons behind using the method of rainwater harvesting:

  • It helps in improving water supply, production of food thus ultimately giving you food security.
  • Rural areas or households suffering from water scarcity benefit from systems of rainwater harvesting.
Since rainwater harvesting ensures a continuous supply of water, which in turn provides food security and in turn contributes significantly towards income generation.
  • Do you know which Indian state first decided to make rainwater harvesting mandatory? On May 30, 2014, the Tamil Nadu state government announced the establishment of 50,000 channels of rainwater harvesting in various parts of the city of Chennai.

Around 4,000 temples in the state of Tamil Nadu have traditionally maintained water tanks, used for various rituals. The tanks were more or less like natural aquifers and helped restore groundwater. Over the years, however, many of those tanks were abandoned and it was the overflow of waste and silt that replaced the water in them.

Now, it is through tireless campaigns run by voluntary organizations and the Department Authority for Water Supply and Use, that Chennai officials have decided to restore around 40 tanks in the city’s major temples. The attempt is to convert such water tanks into drainage basins for rainwater harvesting.

Apart from the Tamil state, indeed other states of India should adopt this tool to ensure water availability in our homes and restore ground water. An international network called RAIN is being created with the objective of promoting the availability of water for vulnerable areas to children and women in developing countries, especially by collecting and storing rainwater.

Thus, this method proves to be very helpful in dealing with the situation of water scarcity or insufficient supply of water and provides sustenance for various activities which are not possible without water such as irrigation, gardening, raising animals, etc. is.

Now, I will request the panelists to take the stage and share my valuable thoughts on the same and suggest some ways to improve the system of rainwater harvesting and how this method can best be used.

Thank you!

Respected parents of all children and my dear friends – hearty congratulations to one and all!

Before I begin my speech on rain water harvesting, I first of all thank the parents for coming under one roof and making our event a success. As we are told about the benefits of rainwater harvesting in our school, all the children spread the knowledge among their families and friends, and all about its benefits.

Rainwater harvesting is an interesting method used to store and store rainwater such as landscape irrigation, animal husbandry, horticulture, etc. When rain comes, we do not make any effort towards conserving that water.

Water can be collected from various hard surfaces, such as roofs and / or other artificial aboveground hard surfaces. If the climate is dry, such as in South Australia, rainwater harvesting techniques can prove extremely beneficial for the environment.

There are many rural houses, which have to conserve all the water for their property and rainwater and do not provide a better quality supply to the house than the river, dams or bore water. Rain water harvesting is not just for rural areas, as many urban households also include treated (main) sources of water supply. This method of rainwater harvesting can significantly reduce the use of main water sources.

Now, the question arises what are the benefits of rainwater harvesting? One of the major benefits of this is that it will help you in reducing your water bills, secondly, during the event of water crisis you will have an alternative source of water supply and thirdly it will be your green, blooming Will help you maintain the garden.

Extreme dependence on climate as well as tank size is not correct and therefore rainwater harvesting can help reduce the burden on the main sources of water. Rainwater harvesting also helps to overcome the fear of storm water runoff; Thus reducing the risk of local flooding or Brooks deficiency.

You can collect rain water from different rooftops, which is based on the concept of what quality of rain water is required. For example, if rainwater is required for lawn or garden irrigation:

  • Assemble it from any roof surface other than unbelted asbestos
  • Ensure all gutters are connected to outlets
  • Preferably attach a nice leaf screen to the gutter
  • Use a gutter outlet that can be adjusted under the gutter

For other miscellaneous uses:

  • Do not let vegetation hang from the ceiling
  • Clean your roof as well as the gutter before rain
  • From the bottom of the gutter, you can now take almost clean water which can be used in gardening.

Therefore, with this little understanding, we can save water in very large quantities and can use it better.
