Update Epson Scanner Driver

EPSON scanner driver may have been removed after Windows update. Or the installed driver may not be compatible with Windows 10. To resolve this problem you can try to update the driver of the scanner .

There are two ways to get the right drivers for your Epson scanner: manually or automatically.

Manual Driver Update : You can manually update your Epson scanner driver by visiting Epson’s official website to download and search for the latest driver. Make sure you choose only the driver compatible with your Windows 10 variant.

Automatic Driver Update : If you don’t have the time, patience or computer skills to manually update drivers, you can do it automatically with the help of the Driver Easy program .

Driver Easy is a software compatible with all Windows PCs that can automatically find all missing or outdated drivers (including those for your printer and scanner). You can update your drivers automatically with the FREE version of Driver Easy. Here’s how it works

1) Download and install Driver Easy on your Windows PC

2) Run Driver Easy and click the START SCAN  button  to start scanning your computer for any outdated or faulty drivers.

3) Click the Update button  next to the EPSON scanner driver (as shown in the figure below) to automatically download and install the correct version of it (you can also do this with the FREE version of Driver Easy).

If you notice that there are too many drivers to update on your PC, then click the Update All button below . However, this function is only active with the purchase of the PRO version of the program.

HP scanner is not working or not detected

HP scanner not working problems can be of various kinds. For example it may happen that the HP scanner does not scan, the scanner is not detected by the computer or errors appear when using the scanner, etc …

The causes of these problems are varied and sometimes difficult to identify. As you can imagine, the connection problem can prevent the scanner from connecting to the computer, and the software or driver problem are other possible reasons.

But do not worry. We will help you fix the HP scanner that is not working or not detected. Just try the following solutions we propose.

  1. Check scanner / PC connection
  2. Activate Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
  3. Update HP Scanner Driver
  4. Run troubleshooter
  5. Launch System File Checker

Fix 1: Check scanner / PC connection

To use the scanner, you must first make sure the scanner is turned on. So you need to check if there is any connection problem. If you are using a USB scanner, check the USB ports and USB cables to make sure everything is working properly. On the other hand, if you are using a network scanner, make sure your computer has a good internet connection and that the scanner connects to the computer via the same Wifi connection. Also, if you are using a VPN connection try disconnecting the VPN from your computer and then try using the scanner.

If these initial tips don’t help move on to the possible solutions below.

Fix 2: activate Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)

Windows Image Acquisition  (WIA)  is a Microsoft model that allows graphics software to communicate with imaging hardware such as scanner and cameras. So you should enable WIA service in your computer if your scanner stops working. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. 1) Right-click the Epson scanner icon on the desktop, and then click 2) Go to the Compatibility tab . If the checkbox next to Run this program in compatibility mode for , uncheck it. Then click the OK button. 3) On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and the R key at the same time to bring up the Run box .

4) Type services.msc and click the OK button to open the Services window :

5) Right click on Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) , then click on  Properties .

6) Make sure Startup Type is set to Automatic and Service Status is Running , then click Apply >  OK .

7) Check if the scanner is working now

Other processes that you should verify are up and running to prevent your HP scanner from malfunctioning are the following:

Remote Procedure Call RPC

DCOM Server Process Launcher

RPC Endpoint Mapper

Shell Hardware Detection

NOTE:
The Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service depends on the shell hardware detection service, while the shell hardware detection service depends on these services: RPC Remote Procedure Call, DCOM Server Process Launcher, and RPC Endpoint Mapper.

Fix 3: Update HP Scanner Driver

Another very frequent cause that causes the HP scanner to malfunction (or the fact that it is not detected) is the presence of outdated or even missing drivers. To fix the problem you need to update the scanner drivers . How to do this update?

Manual update: You can manually update the HP scanner driver by visiting HP’s official website to search for and then download the latest driver. Make sure you select the drivers compatible with your HP scanner model.

Automatic update: If you don’t have the computer skills to update drivers manually, you can do it automatically with the help of the Driver Easy program .

Driver Easy is a program designed to automatically find all missing or outdated drivers (including those for your scanner). Here’s how it works.

1) Download and install Driver Easy on your Windows PC

2) Run Driver Easy and click the START SCAN  button  to start scanning your computer for any outdated or faulty drivers.

3) Click the Update button  next to the HP scanner driver (as shown in the figure below) to automatically download and install the correct version of it.

Fix 4: Run Troubleshooter

It is possible that there is something wrong with the scanner, and if so by running the Windows troubleshooter you will be able to fix it. Here are the steps to follow.

Type cmd in the Windows search bar and then select Run as administrator.

Copy and paste the following command line into the command prompt window and press Enter .

msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic

Click Next in the window that appears and the troubleshooter will start detecting hardware problems automatically.

Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the troubleshooter and fix the problem with the scanner.

Once this is done, try the scanner again and see if it works properly.

Fix 5: Launch System File Checker

System File Checker (SFC) is a built-in Windows feature that scans damaged system files and automatically repairs them. HP scanning may not work due to some corrupted system files, so you can try SFC to fix the problem.

  1. a) Type cmdin the search box, right-click Command Promptand select Run as administrator.
  2. b) In Command Prompt enter the following command and then press Enter.

sfc / scannow

  1. c) Wait for the 100% verification to complete. This can take some time.
  2. d) Once completed, type exitin the command prompt and press Enterto close the window.
