The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 arrives in a flexible and rectangular cardboard box with a white background where the clock is represented in color, the model and the Samsung logo are screen printed.
Once we extract the inner drawer to see the clock held by a cardboard mold, we see that it is divided into two divisions.

Exterior design
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is a top-of-the-range smartwatch that comes with new features that surpasses the Watch 4, which we tested here a while ago. In fact, its style seems quite original to us, with a large round dial measuring 44 mm and a tighter thickness of 9.8 mm .
For the construction of the crown, an aluminum frame has been used that leaves us with a certain beveled edge, exposing something to the screen. For example, to sleep, its weight is only 33 grams without strap or 57.5 grams with strap, which makes it very light and comfortable .
We have the possibility of choosing in two base colors: Gray or graphite. In the Wi-Fi version we have the possibility of acquiring it in blue, while in LTE in rose gold.
In our case we have received the graphite gray color that gives it a sporty and elegant touch so that it does not clash in informal situations. The glass that covers the SUPER AMOLED screen has another graduated inner frame that will be well combined with analog spheres, and finally another small frame, now typical of the screen, will complete the useful 1.4” front area.
We go to the side of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 where we have two round metal push buttons , the upper one unlocks or turns on the watch, and also takes us to home, while with the lower one we access the sport modes, being configurable .
The base or lower case is made of glass , but it has a good touch and a micro-roughened surface to grip the wrist well. On the slightly spherical central area the health sensors are concentrated , and in the central area we have. The whole set is waterproof up to a pressure of 5 Atmospheres , although just in case, we recommend not submerging it for a long time.
At each end the hinges will be located to hold the straps, which are integrated into the casing itself with a feeling of good resistance. Its type and width and standard anchorage allows you to place a wide variety of straps, moreover, there are already unofficial straps on the market for a few euros.
The ones it brings with it are made of silicone and are approximately 2 mm thick , but they are quite flexible and fit well on the wrist. Its touch is rubbery and the buckle is plastic , but its quality is more than enough for what we are paying for the product.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is surely the smartwatch with one of the best screens . Its SUPER AMOLED panel with a size of 1.4 inches in 450 x 450px resolution with a pixel density of 326 and a very durable and water resistant sapphire crystal. It offers touch input with very good response and fluidity of the screen.
On this screen we can say that the representation of colors is excellent and that it will provide us with a great advantage for autonomy if we use backgrounds with a lot of black . We can handle the manually adjustable brightness without any problem, and at no time are we going to have lighting problems in outdoor areas.
This model supports personalized spheres , which we can install through its Samsung Gear App , having an extensive list, both free and paid.
Built-in features
The technical section of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is presented as one of the top range watches in the sector, it is also justified by its price. It uses a Wear OS 3.5 operating system with Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity to pair with an Android or iOS smartphone . It has a vibration system for notifications and events, adjustable in intensity and durability .
At the hardware level, we find a dual-core processor signed by Samsung itself: Exynos W920 at 1.18 GHz, 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal. Our experience with the smartwatch has been quite fluid and with a very good screen response. The interface is in Spanish and with gesture interaction in the 4 directions of space, to navigate through the menus. Along with the buttons already described in the review.
As for the available functions , we better see them in a list in a clear way:

User experience, sport and App
The mode of use of this Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 will be like almost any other smart watch or activity bracelet, through gestures in the 4 directions to access: (up) settings, (down) notifications, (right) quick menus, (left ) summary of daily activity.
The smartwatch is in excellent Spanish, and the representation of information or titles is excellent . We assure you that if you end up buying it, you will not be able to live without it. If you are a clueless person who always has the smartphone on silent, we assure you that more than one call that you do not usually see, you will be able to see it thanks to the clock.
The initial configuration of the watch is quite simple, we just have to choose the language , install the Samsung Gear application plus an application for the Gear 5 that is an extra and log in with your Samsung account.

It must be made clear that at the level of sports use , the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is going to be a very complete smartwatch, similar to any sports device, but we have the Wi-Fi version (which does not have an eSIM). But options such as an altimeter that allow a greater variety of data to be measured are very important.
In addition to basic information for all exercises such as time, bpm, and calories, the walking exercise modes will measure steps, steps/minute, and step time per kilometer . In swimming, strokes will be measured , while cycling is one of the most complete.
The exercise detector has worked fine, and the health sensors will work fine . We have compared it with the Active 2 that we have, and we like it a little better.
It is useful to be able to set goals before starting the exercise, such as calories, distance or time, which will help motivate us and achieve goals. Quite useful for monitoring exercises at a basic or amateur level.
Samsung Gear APP
By accessing the Galaxy Wearable application , this is where we can more comfortably manage issues such as the notifications we receive on the smart watch, widgets, screen options, applications and security options, among others.
Among the customization alternatives we find the possibility of establishing the type of sphere to use, which can be either a predefined model from the catalog or another totally personalized to our liking.
This same process can be carried out directly from the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 5, which shows us the preset gallery in the application with a preview of the various models . Apart from the initial sphere, the wallpaper present in the navigation menus, notification ring , calls, vibration and lighting intensity are also fully adjustable parameters.
Something that has also notably caught our attention is the establishment of pre-established rest times , periods in which we can program the smart watch to remain silent and with a dark screen mode with low brightness , ideal for the night.
Battery and fast charging base
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 has a 410 mAh battery for this version, but depending on the exact model you choose, you will have the 284 mAh one. With which we have achieved autonomy in normal use of about 40 hours . An excellent figure if we take into account that we have been monitoring all the possible options within the smartwatch 24 hours a day. In the best case, the duration will be several days, using the watch only to see the time .
The battery charge is carried out with a magnetic base that sticks to the watch by magnetism , just like the Active 2 and Active 4 that we have been analyzing. The classic and most useful method for this type of wearables, also relatively wide so that the watch remains stable on the table. The charging cycle is quite fast, with a 45% charge in just 30 minutes (in 1 hour and 10 minutes we will have it 100% charged from 0 to 100), and that has a larger battery.
Final words and conclusion about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5
After testing the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 for more than a week , we can say that it has left a great taste in our mouths and is among the best smartwatches currently on the market. A high-end smartwatch with an Exynos W920 processor , 1.5 GB of RAM and the Wear OS operating system .
In our day-to-day life, it has protected us with everything we need in a smart watch : reliability in counting our steps, sports programs, comfort during use, excellent customization of the dials and very complete software.
What we liked least about the watch is its low autonomy . We believe that charging it every two days can be a problem if you forget the charger on a trip or in the event that you are somewhat clueless when charging your devices. All this is because the Wear OS operating system tends to have a high consumption.
Currently we can buy the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 for a price of 260 euros for the 40 mm dial model , 295 euros for the 44 mm dial model and the LTE version goes up to 375 euros .
