Galaxy A52s vs Galaxy A52 4G vs Galaxy A52 5G: what are the differences?

Samsung dominates the mid-range with the Galaxy A52 range. Let’s find out which model it makes sense to focus on in relation to the quality / price ratio.

The mid-range of the smartphone market represents a particularly strategic segment. Samsung is well aware that, not surprisingly, in the last 12 months it has put the Galaxy A52s , the Galaxy A52 4G and the Galaxy A52 5G on the market . Very similar devices to each other, which among other things have to contend with many noteworthy opponents, among which Oppo Reno 6 and Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G stand out . It is therefore not easy to juggle all these models and it is even less easy to choose among the proposals of the South Korean company. As we will see, however, there are differences and it is important to have them in mind when purchasing.

Price

Let’s start, first of all, with the price. In fact, positioning tells a lot about how smartphones are conceived by brands. In the specific case, it is clear that the Galaxy A52s and the Galaxy A52 5G are two direct competitors. They are both sold for 469.90 euros in the 128 Gigabyte version of internal memory and 6 Gigabytes of RAM. A figure destined to go down quickly online, so much so that it is already possible to buy them at lower prices. A price list probably a bit high compared to what is offered from a technical point of view, although they offer excellent features starting from the screen.

Different speech instead for the Galaxy A52 4G . Sold for 379.90 euros , it is already possible to buy it for under 300 euros. In this case we are talking about a device that obviously attacks the medium-low range of the market. The lower price gives it an excellent quality / price ratio also because, as we will see in the detail of the technical specifications, it offers a Super AMOLED screen, 6 Gigabytes of RAM, 128 Gigabytes of internal memory and four rear cameras. Really not bad considering the amount required to take it home.

Design and display

From a purely aesthetic point of view, it is really difficult to grasp the differences between the three models. The body is in fact made of satin polycarbonate, which increases grip and prevents smartphones from sliding even in the absence of a cover. The pastel colors, which wink at the younger audience, are definitely impactful. In particular, they are available in the Black, White, Violet, Mint and Blue variants (the latter exclusive to the Galaxy A52 4G and 5G). The photographic module is enclosed, on the back, by a small rectangular rise.

Galaxy A52s

The front is dominated almost entirely by the screen, whose continuity is interrupted only by the hole that, on the front, houses the selfie camera. All three models boast a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel with 1,080 x 2,400 resolution. In the Galaxy A52s and A52 5G, however, the display has a refresh rate (refresh rate) of 120 Hertz, a detail that makes it particularly suitable for the use of multimedia content (think of streaming platforms such as Netflix, Prime Video, Disney + and YouTube itself) and playing video games. In the Galaxy A52 4G, on the other hand, it stops at 90 Hertz.

Performance and camera

Exactly as it happens for design, even from a performance point of view it is difficult to find marked differences, especially in the daily use of smartphones. Galaxy A52 4G is in fact based on the Snapdragon 720G processor, the A52 5G on the Snapdragon 750G, the A52s on the Snapdragon 778G. SoC (System-on-a-chip) very close to each other, also because they are coupled on all models with 6 Gigabytes of RAM. All three run very well, manage demanding operations and show no slowdowns. Having to decree a winner from this point of view, we would say the A52s, but really by a whisker.

Analogous speech for the photographic part, identical on all three. The 64 Megapixel main sensor is coupled to a 12 Megapixel wide angle, a 5 Megapixel macro and a 5 Megapixel depth-of-field sensor. They take great photos in the daytime, suffer a little at night, even if the image processing processor of the Galaxy A52s is a little more powerful. This allows for better low-light images than the other two models.

Galaxy A52 5G

Very good videos, recorded up to 4K resolution at 30 fps. Selfies also convince, also because they are entrusted to the 32 Megapixel front camera which, thanks to special algorithms, is also able to create a convincing portrait mode (subject and focus and blurred background).

The software part is obviously entrusted to Android 11 and autonomy is guaranteed, for all three models, by a 4,500 mAh battery. Samsung has worked very well from this point of view and you always manage to close the working day without any particular problems. A significant advantage.

Conclusion: which model to buy?

Considering what is offered overall and the price at which it is possible to buy it, we would like to recommend the Galaxy A52 4G . It has slightly lower technical characteristics than Galaxy A52s and A52 5G , but not to justify a price difference which, compared to the other two, can even exceed 100 euros. We are certainly facing the best smartphone that you can buy today around 350 euros.

Galaxy A52s and A52 5G are equally convincing but, the advice is to wait for a natural depreciation. When they position themselves below 400 euros (as is already the case in our comparator), we will be facing the best mid-range smartphones.
