Skype
The first service I recommend is Skype, the famous Microsoft software most used in the world that in a completely simple way allows you to keep in touch with other people through text chats, calls and video calls both single and group.
To use Skype from your computer as a first step you need to connect to the official website for the file and press the appropriate button to download the installation file for the Windows or macOS version , it depends on the operating system you use.
While if you have a PC with Windows 10 installed, you don’t need to download anything as the application is already pre-installed. You can see it by pressing the Start menu . (If it has been deleted you can find it on the Microsoft Store at this link ).
To install Skype on Windows click twice consecutively with the left mouse button on the .exe file you just downloaded, then from the first window that opens, press Yes and then Install to finish.
While to install Skype on macOS after downloading the .dmg file double click with the left mouse button on it then drag the Skype icon to the Applications folder and wait for the installation to finish.
At the end of the installation, start Skype and after configuring everything through the guided tutorial, go to the Contacts list at the top and locate the contact you want to video call. Once selected, click on the icon with the symbol of a video camera that you see located in the upper right corner. After ending the video call, to disconnect the connection, press the icon with a red handset symbol .
To start a group video call on Skype as a first step start the application and go to the Contacts list at the top, then locate a contact with whom you want to make a video call, then press the icon with the symbol of a little man and a (+) next to it placed in the upper right corner.
At this point, from the window that opens, check the contacts you want to participate in the group video call (you can add up to a maximum of 50 participants), then press the Done button located at the top right. At this point, to start, press the icon with the symbol of a video camera that you see located in the upper right corner.
To add another participant, press the Invite other people button while if you need to temporarily obscure yourself from the video call just click on the camera symbol located at the bottom left which is blue and, after clicking it, it will become gray. Hangouts
Another famous and well-known service that I recommend is Hangouts, the Google messaging program where it allows you to send messages and make video calls from your PC both individually and in groups through the Web.
To be able to use Hangouts from a PC and make a video call there are two ways, the first through the official website without downloading any programs and the second through the extension for Google Chrome .
If you decide to use Hangouts to make a video call from your PC over the web as a first step, connect to the official Hangouts page and if you are asked, log in with your Google account by pressing the Sign in button . Then go to Contacts by pressing the appropriate icon in the left area to view the list of your Google contacts.
At this point to continue click on the name of the person you want to video call then in the screen that is shown to you press the icon in the shape of a video camera to start the video call.
If you want to make a group video call from the Web with Hangouts, after opening the service click on the item + New conversation then on + New group then enter or select the names, phone numbers or email addresses of the people you want to add, then press on the Video Call button .
Alternatively, if you want to use the Hangouts extension for Chrome just go to this page of the Google Web Store then press the Add button and Add Extension . Once the extension is installed, open Hangouts through the green cartoon icon that has been created at the top right next to the Chrome address bar and that’s it.
