Khalid Donnel Robinson. American pop music singer and songwriter. Known for his debut single “Location,” which reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart , it was certified four times platinum in the United States . He has a contract with Right Hand Music Group and RCA Records . His debut album was released on March 3, 2017. He has collaborated with artists such as Shawn Mendes , Marshmello , Imagine Dragons , Rae Sremmurd, Martin Garrix , Billie Eilish, and Lorde.

Biographical synthesis

He was born on February 11, 1998 at Fort Steward , Georgia . [1] His childhood was spent in different parts of the United States , and 6 years in Heidelberg , Germany due to the fact that his mother Linda worked as a military man. [2]

He studied singing and musical theater in high school. Before finishing high school, they moved to El Paso, Texas . He was given the key to the city on September 13, 2018 by the mayor of El Paso.

Musical career

His beginnings in the world of music was in high school, uploading some of these early works to SoundCloud . In April 2016 he released his single “Location” which would later achieve great fame.

In July 2016 it peaked at # 2 on the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists chart . His single “Location” ended 2016 at number 20 on the Billboard R & B / HIP-HOP Airplay Chart . Before publishing his album, in 2016 he released 3 promotional singles (“Let’s go”, “Hopeless”, “Reasons”).

He collaborated with singer Normani for the single from the movie “Love, Simón” called: Love Lies; I also collaborate with Billie Ellish on her song “Lovely”. And recently I released a song with Martin Garrix called “Ocean” that has reached popular ratings, being the most listened to on Bilboard.

At the beginning of the year he made a tour called “Location Tour” in which he went through more than 20 cities including his city, El Paso in Texas where he performed in front of more than 1500 people. [3] .

On March 3, 2017, he released his first studio album titled American Teen which reached number 4 in the American album chart, which achieved great success and placed fourth on the Billboard 200 .

The album is clearly influenced by his time at the institute that he passed after arriving from Germany in the United States as the name of the album indicates. His lyrics deal with themes such as love or youth. The most successful songs on the album were “Young Dumb & Broke”, “Saved” and “8teen”.

American Teen generally received very positive reviews and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Contemporary Urban Album.

This album has been certified platinum by the RIAA for the sale of more than 1,000,000 copies between physical and digital sales and sales equivalences on streaming music platforms. [4]

During 2017 Khalid collaborated with Artists such as Calvin Harris and Future on the song ” Rollin “, along with Logic and Alessia Cara on the song “1-800-273-8255”, which was nominated for the Grammy Awards as Song of the Year .

He collaborated with DJ Marshmello on the song “Silence” which became very popular. At the end of the year, he won the category of Best New Artist of 2017 at the MTV Video Music Awards.

In this year 2018 Khalid has already collaborated with Shawn Mendes on the song ” Youth “; and has participated in the remix of Lorde’s song ” Homemade Dynamite ” with the artist herself, SZA and Post Malone .
