During the printing phase, you can also decide whether to print the document by showing (or keeping invisible) the hidden text, a very useful option for keeping a personal copy (perhaps with notes) and one to share with other users.

  • Click on “File” at the top left
  • Continue with “Options”  and then with  “View”
  • Add the check to “Print hidden text”

How to remove hidden text in a document to share with Word

In case you need to share a file with hidden text, it will still be necessary to consider that anyone, by carrying out the operations seen above, will be able to peek into the aforementioned text. For this reason, if you have to share the document, we recommend exporting it to PDF and then sending it .

  • Click on “File” at the top left
  • Continue with “Save as”
  • Choose “Download as PDF”

This will turn the document into a PDF file and cannot be manipulated to show the text.

As the only alternative, you will need to completely remove the previously hidden text. In this way, however, it will no longer be possible to recover it. However, you can still create a copy and then edit only the one you want to share.

  • Click on “Replace” at the top right
  • Continue with “More …”
  • Open the “Format” drop-down menu at the  bottom right
  • Select “Font”
  • Check the “Hidden” item in “Effects”
  • Conclude with “OK”
