iVoox is one of the largest Spanish podcast platforms in the world. Today we are going to analyze the main spaces and functions of an extraordinary app that is present on millions of people’s smartphones and computers.
This Spanish company has managed to overcome, at least in our country, the podcasting services of tech giants with as much weight as Google, Apple or even Spotify. The latter is the most important streaming music service in the world and already had half the work done thanks to its vast user base.

Play a podcast on iVoox
Much of its success comes from being early in the game and becoming practically a standard within podcast applications. iVoox allows you to listen to them of every subject and condition that we can imagine. So let’s see how to get started in this world and listen to our first podcast .
- We can enter iVoox from the application for Android or iOS or from any computer through the website. Given the predominance of the first method, it is the one that we are going to use to make the article.
- The first time we open the smartphone application, it will give us the possibility to choose up to 5 themes from the cloud of options to guide our tastes.
- Click on “Next” and we will be on the iVoox Home page . In it, and depending on the topics we have chosen on the previous page, it will show us what they think we will like.
- In the header we have a carousel with the current outstanding podcasts, below other recommended ones, followed by a radio section that we will talk about later and below all the available podcasts according to our tastes.
- At the top we see programs (within which there will be episodes), but if we scroll we will have direct access to podcasts classified and organized according to the categories selected before.
- We can click on any of them and start listening to them (by pressing the play button) or enter a program and navigate between the episodes that the author has published.
Cool Podcast Player Features
When we have chosen a podcast to listen to, the iVoox player will open. In it we find some interesting functions that we are going to detail:
- Playback speed : we can increase or decrease the playback speed.
- Timer : playback will stop after the time we set. Very useful if we use iVoox when we get into bed to sleep.
- Car mode : when we activate this feature we will have a very simple interface with very large buttons to be able to use the app in the car (always with caution).
- Download the podcast : one of the star functions in iVoox is the possibility of downloading podcasts to listen to them without Internet. We will see the downloaded episodes in the My iVoox section, located in the bottom bar.
Subscriptions are everything
If this podcasting is drawing our attention and we are already fans of some of the programs that are published on iVoox, it is advisable to make an account in the application.
It is totally free and will help us keep track of what we have heard and what we have pending. In addition, the progress of the listening is saved in our profile and is synchronized with all the devices in which we have entered our account.
To create an account we must follow the following steps:
- We go to the “My iVoox” tab .
- Now click on the gear in the upper right that will take us to the configuration area.
- Click on “Access” .
- Now we can register using our Facebook, Google accounts or the traditional email and password method.
When we are subscribed to a podcast, it will appear in the “Subscriptions” tab at the bottom of the screen. In it we will find all our programs and the audios pending to listen to. We can even set notifications and alerts so that the smartphone informs us of a new podcast of our favorite show.
Explore new podcasts
Something that usually happens when we are fond of listening to podcasts is that we tend to want more programs to fill our time. iVoox provides a very good tool for discovering new programs of any genre.
To do this, we will have to enter the “Explore” section (located in the bottom bar) and navigate through the tabs in which we will find the most popular podcasts and a classification by subject where to search.
For example, we can use “Surprise me” , a very attractive function in which we put the duration we want the podcast to have and the application will do the rest by providing us with one.
Listen to the radio live
Another of the functions that iVoox offers us is to be able to listen to the radio live. It has an extensive list of national and regional stations.
On the main page we will only see some accounts that iVoox recommends, so to find the complete list we have to go to the “Explore” section and there click on “Live Radio” .
This tutorial can serve as a header to know how to use iVoox on our smartphone , but the application is constantly updated including new functions and content to finish refining our tastes and provide us with good podcasts.
