How to Unsubscribe Apps and Games on Google Play

Based on the business model, there are several types of apps and games on the Google Play Store.

First is the application which is free.

We can download and use this application for free, but usually there will be ads in the application as a way for the developer to earn income.

The second is an application or game with in-app purchases or IAP (In App Purchase).

We can use this type of application for free, but there are some features or items that are locked and can only be used if we pay for it.

There are also applications and games with a subscription system, where we have to pay a certain amount of money every month/year.

Applications that fall into this type are usually music services , cloud storage, and the like.

We can cancel the subscription at any time from our Google Play account, but there are still many people who don’t know about it.

Therefore, in this article, I will provide as detailed a tutorial as possible so that you can follow it.

How to Unsubscribe Apps and Games on Google Play

This tutorial on how to cancel a subscription on the Google Play Store is a general tutorial, which means that regardless of the brand of your Android phone, the process is the same.

Whether you use Xiaomi, Samsung, Oppo , Realme, Acer, Asus, or others, you can follow the method below.

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your phone. Then tap the profile photo in the top right corner.
  2. Several menu options will appear available on the Google Play Store. After that tap the Payments & subscriptions menu.
  3. Next select Subscription.
  4. In this menu all your app and game subscriptions will appear. Incidentally I only subscribe to Google One, so what appears on your screen may be different. Please select which subscription you want to terminate.
  5. You will be taken to the Manage subscriptions page. On this page you will get information on the price of subscriptions to the payment method that you are using. To cancel this subscription, tap the Cancel subscription button.
  6. Next you will be asked to answer What is your reason for canceling? There are several answer options available, please choose. If you have tap on the Continue button.

And congrats, now you have successfully canceled your subscription or app on the Google Play Store.

Google Play will no longer charge for the service, because you’ve already canceled it.

Can I resubscribe?

Of course. You can re-subscribe at any time if you change your mind. Whether it’s a game or an application.

Will my money be returned?

It all depends on the policy of the application developer .

There are some developers who provide a 15 day money back policy, some don’t.

So make sure you know the policies of the app or game you are using.

Does this only have an impact on the phone I’m using?

No, this will affect all phones using the same account.

For example, you use one Google account on 5 phones.

So if you unsubscribe from an application, all 5 of your phones will also automatically unsubscribe from the same application.
