How to unfreeze a Kindle (In 9 Steps)

Step 1

Unplug your Kindle from your computer or power adapter.

Step 2

Slide the power switch and release it. The Power LED should glow green for a couple of seconds.

Turn off the Kindle by sliding the power switch, and holding it until the screen turns off. After about five seconds, the LED will flash green several times before the screen turns off.

Step 4

Turn on the Kindle again by sliding and releasing the power switch.

If your Kindle is still unresponsive, slide and hold the power switch for 15 seconds to force an aggressive restart.

Step 6

If your Kindle doesn’t respond to an aggressive restart, charge it up and give it another try.

Charge your Kindle through an external source by plugging it into a wall outlet.

Step 2

Charge the Kindle for about 2 minutes. Make sure the indicator light shows that it is charging. If you don’t see any indication that it is charging, adjust the connection until it starts charging.

Step 3

Unplug the power adapter and see if the Kindle responds. If it still does not respond, force a restart by sliding and holding the power switch for 15 seconds.
