Apple has made it easy to sign all kinds of documents from the iPhone and share them in PDF format so that no one can modify them, but to have that simplicity you have to use Preview and the native tools of the system. What happens when the document you want to sign is in Google Drive , a service used by millions of people on all platforms?
In this case, you have to deal with the menus and options of Google Drive, but signing a document from that platform and depending only on the iPhone is not impossible. Let’s see how to do it.
Export, sign and share
The first thing is to have the Google Documents application installed on the iPhone (available for free in the App Store ) and to have logged in to be able to see the documents that we have stored in your cloud. We have to locate the document we want to sign and open it:
A preview of the document will be displayed. Click on the ellipses (…), select ‘ Share and Export ‘ and then click on ‘ Send a copy ‘:
Normally, if we want to send a signed document, it is so that no one can modify it. Therefore in the next step choose the PDF format to export the document:
The native iOS Share menu will make an appearance. It is time to click on ‘ Dialing ‘:
The PDF document that you just exported will open ready for you to sign it freehand, with the controls to modify the stroke and color of the signature as you wish. When you have done it, click on ‘ OK ‘:
In the menu that appears, click on ‘ Save file in… ‘. All you have to do is select the iCloud Drive or iPhone folder where you want to save the signed document:
