How to see everything you’ve done on Facebook since opening it

Facebook records almost everything we do.  Not only the friends you add or the posts you write but also what you like, what you comment, who you comment on. And we can see all that in the Facebook activity log. You can see the Facebook activity log to know everything you have done on the social network since you created it until today. Luckily, only you can see it but we explain how to do it and what it allows us.

We can see what we have done if we want to review previous posts, added friends or comments that we are no longer interested in and that we would like to delete. It allows filtering by year and even by month so that practically everything will be registered in this section.

Facebook activity log

You can see everything you have done on Facebook since you joined the social network or from the moment you have decided to delete it. We explain how to access and what it is for.

To access the activity log we have to follow these steps:

  • Click the arrow next to your photo at the top right of Facebook
  • Tap on “Settings and privacy in the menu”
  • Choose the option “Activity log”

Here it will show everything you have done, by date.

Filter by type or activity

You can see an activity log in which you can use Facebook filters to find everything more easily:

  • Activity Register
  • Publications
  • Activity in which you have been tagged
  • Photos and videos
  • Photos in which you have been tagged
  • Other people’s posts in your bio
  • Hidden in biography
  • Likes and reactions
  • Posts and comments
  • Pages, pages you like and interests
  • Comments
  • Profile
  • Friends added
  • Friends removed
  • Friend request sent
  • Friend request received
  • Important events
  • Archived stories
  • Your stories
  • Surveys in videos that you have participated
  • Etc

Simply scroll the list to the end to mark the category you want. There are many others that we have not included here and that you can find by following the steps above. Choose the filter you want and at the top of the window you will find: Year.

A drop-down will allow you to choose the year you want or search globally. You can search for the year you want since you created your Facebook account. When you have marked all the filters and you have chosen the specific year, tap on “Filter” to see all the related activity.

Filter by year

For example, you can see which friends you added on Facebook in 2016. Or which friends you had deleted on Facebook in 2017, in which photos you were tagged in 2019, what comments you wrote in 2020. Everything you have done, if not deleted, it will appear in this record. And you can even choose the exact month of the year that you want to consult.

Results

Once you have filtered the results will appear on the left side of the screen, in a column. Just tap on the different publications on the left so that they open in a large window on Facebook and you can see what it is. For example, if you have written a comment on a post, you will be able to see what it was about or to whom it was addressed.

You can follow the steps as many times as you want to see what you need: uploaded photos, friends, comments, searches, likes …

Delete items from the activity log

There are two options to remove items from the activity log: you can delete events (comments made, friends added …) or you can delete searches that you have done in the last months or days, for example.

Eliminate any event

Once you have followed the steps above and are in the Facebook activity log, you can delete whatever you want. Of course, each item will have to be removed individually. In the bar on the left we will see the chronology: day, month, year and what happened.

You can go by tapping on the different events and you will see that just by hovering the mouse over it, a circle with three points inside appears. If you touch on this point, a button will appear: Delete. Click on it to delete that event that you don’t want to appear.

Clear searches

You can delete searches you have done on Facebook. From the Facebook web page, in the upper left we will find the search engine for the social network. Touch on it and recent searches will appear and some blue letters that indicate “Edit”. Tap on them.

The search history of the last days will now open with the same format as the previous case: the elements in a column on the left and you can touch on any of them to open them in large format. Here we have two options: touch on the circle in each of the elements to delete it individually or delete them globally. If you want to delete all searches, tap on “Delete searches” and they will disappear from the history.

Keep in mind that only you see what you have searched for so it is not important if you do not delete this, nobody will be able to access it unless they access your social network account or your computer.

Review tagged posts and photos

One of the things that the Facebook activity log also allows us is to review photos in which you may appear or publications in which you have been tagged in the past and that you want to review to remove your tag, add to the profile, hide, etc.

Follow the steps above to open the Facebook record (tap on the arrow in the upper right corner, go to settings and privacy and activity log) Once here, choose the section “Review publications in which you have been tagged. Posts in which you have been tagged and that you have not “reviewed” will open in the center of the screen. You can hide them or add them to your profile depending on what interests you one thing or another. You can repeat the process with all the publications in which you have been mentioned on Facebook.

You can do the same with the function ” Review photos in which you may appear “. Through facial recognition, Facebook scans photos in which you may appear and have not been tagged. Tap here to see if there is anything you have pending.
