How to remove the sidebar from Windows 8.1

All of you who have used Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 will know the bar that appears on the right when we bring the cursor to the upper or lower corner of this same side. From here we access several interesting options related to our system, but at the same time, some users do not like having the Charms Bar (as it is called), since every two times three it appears without that being our intention. To avoid this inconvenience, today we will explain how to remove the sidebar from Windows 8.1 so that it will no longer appear and we will be able to move the cursor freely without worrying .

But, will I have access to all the information?

What we will achieve by activating the option is to increase the size of the desktop and therefore have a cleaner appearance without having to give up anything.

Do not worry in this regard, since what we are going to do is disable the option for the Charms Bar to appear when we move the cursor to the upper right corner, keeping the action activated for the lower right corner.

That is, we can continue accessing by placing the cursor at the bottom , but it no longer bothers us when, for example, we want to close a program by clicking on the cross.

How can I remove the Charms Bar

The first thing we are going to do is access the properties of the taskbar , clicking on it with the right button.

We enter the “ Navigation ” tab and select the checkbox “ When pointing to the upper right corner, show the accesses ”.

We accept the changes and we can now verify that when we put the cursor in that corner, the bar does not appear . If we want to activate this option again, we check the box again and we will use the default configuration.

Permanently remove the sidebar from Windows 8.1

However, we can also completely remove the Windows 8.1 sidebar , that is, it does not appear even when we go to the lower right corner of the screen .

To do this, we enter the Windows registry by typing “ regedit ” without quotes in the search engine. We go into HK EY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ ImmersiveShell and right-click on an empty part of the window on the right.

In the context menu we put the cursor on “ New ” and then click on “ Key ”. We use “ EdgeUI ” as the name (without the quotes) and enter this new folder. We press the right button again in the right window and enter “ New ”, but this time we click on “ Value of DWORD (32-bit) ” and use the name “ DisableCharmsHint ” (also without quotes).

We enter this new value and enter the value ” 1 ” and we have no choice but to accept.

How to access the bar in Windows 8.1

In the event that we opt for the first solution, we have already commented that the only thing we will have to do to access the bar is through the lower right corner, but in the case of the second, what we will have to do is press the key combination Windows + C .

As we can see, we have two fantastic systems that will help us configure the Windows 8.1 sidebar.
