How to protect your Facebook account from being hacked

In this post we will see how you can prevent Facebook from being hacked with the following security measures.

If you suspect that your Facebook has been logged into from somewhere unexpected or if you just want to protect your account, this post is for you. We will see different ways in which you can protect your Facebook account from being hacked .

Next I will present the configurations that you must make in your account for the greatest possible security. If you have noticed that your Facebook has already been hacked , in the link I will show you what to do. You should always take these measures into account for maximum protection and prevent your Facebook from being hacked.

Protect your Facebook account from being hacked

You can access all of these options by clicking the drop-down arrow at the top right of the window and then clicking Settings & Privacy >  Settings .

Then select the Security and Login section in the left column.

#1. Set a strong password

Changing your password is the first thing you should do if someone has accessed your account without your consent. But in fact, you should change it periodically , regardless of whether this happened to you or not.

  • Next to the Change passwordoption , click the Edit button .
  • Then you have to enter your current password and the new one
  • To finish, click the Save changesbutton .

#2. Activate Unknown Login Alert

Facebook allows you to close unauthorized sessions remotely, but if you don’t check, you won’t know if someone accessed your account. That is why you must activate the login alerts. This will alert you when a login is made from a suspicious location.

To do this you must go to the section  Receive alerts about unrecognized logins  and click on  Edit .

Here you can activate the option to receive notifications, both for Facebook itself, Messenger and by mail. When you’re done, click the Save Changes button.

This will allow you to be informed when someone logs into your account from an unrecognized device or browser.

#3. Enable two-step authentication

Two-step authentication is an additional layer of security for accessing your account. When logging in, in addition to the password, it will also require a code that only you as the real owner of the account could obtain.

  • To turn it on, under Two-Step Authentication, click the Edit link  to the right of Use Two-Step Authentication .
  • On the next page you must choose if you want to use a  text messageor an  authentication app  as additional security.
  • Then confirm and click  Nextand follow the wizard.

You will only need to use two-step authentication when Facebook does not recognize the device.

Also, you can review and adjust the list of approved devices. Return to the Security and Login page and next to  Authorized Logins, click  View .

Remember that you can remotely log out of Facebook from any device and increase the security of your account.
