What is Overwatch ?

It is an online first-person shooter developed by Blizzard, being the fourth original franchise currently maintained by the company, along with Warcraft , Diablo , Starcraft and their derivatives, in addition to the Heroes of the Storm crossover .

The title has a gameplay similar to titles like Team Fortress 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive , but integrating elements coming from MOBAs like League of Legends and DOTA 2 , in addition to Heroes itself , which was released after Overwatch and has some of your heroes.

The game itself does not have a story mode, but it has several game modes, from the cooperative between teams to the seasonal PvE (players against the environment), available during events. Currently the game has more than 30 heroes divided into 3 categories, each with different weapons, skills and style of play.

1. Learn to play with more than one character

Overwatch (Image: Press Release / Blizzard Entertainment)

Overwatch has a cast of dozens of heroes, divided into the categories Damage (the main attackers), Tank (the most resistant, ideal for crossing opponents’ defenses) and Support (which grant healing and status changes). The game encourages the creation of balanced teams, where each must play their part to achieve victory.

Exactly for this reason, playing with only one character or with only those in the same category is not ideal. It is important to be flexible and play together with the team, rather than being individualistic, which can be halfway to defeat.

2. Pay attention to the objective

Each map has a winning condition in battles between teams. Instead of playing the Lone Wolf and playing on your own, it is important that everyone is tuned in to the objective, which can be escorting the cargo to its destination (or preventing the opposing team from completing the task), fighting for control points, or capturing the enemy flag.

By not playing with the team in Overwatch , you can jeopardize everyone’s effort and facilitate defeat, so learn to pay attention to what you need to do to win the battle and stay within the plan. Playing with active voice chat is a good way to coordinate actions .

3. Don’t stand still

Overwatch (Image: Press Release / Blizzard Entertainment)

There is a name for someone who is stuck in a competitive shooting game, and it is “target”. In Overwatch this is no different, especially with the presence of sniper heroes, such as Ana and Widowmaker. This one in particular has an ability that allows you to see through walls, just like Hanzo, making it easy to identify where your opponents are.

To avoid being constantly sent to the respawn room, keep moving around all the time. This makes things difficult for players who use these heroes, who are most effective when used in eavesdropping, to catch the unsuspecting and distracted.

4. Enjoy the wait to train

Overwatch (Image: Press Release / Blizzard Entertainment)

Overwatch has a standby mode where you can play free games, with no goals or limits, while waiting for the game server to bring players together for battle. He is excellent for training with his hero, as well as studying maps and defining routes when the fight is for real.

It is also very good for players to train with heroes other than those they are used to, especially to become more flexible in matches, and to study the strengths and weaknesses of each hero, in order to devise strategies to break their defenses. .

5. Unity is strength

The above sentence may be cliché jargon, but in Overwatch it is an absolute truth. The game was developed with a strong appeal to the cooperative part, and those who follow the “I work alone” style will not go far, and will destroy the chances of their team winning.

From choosing heroes to strategies during the match, always keep in mind that the collective goal is essential to victory, and when team members, without exception, work together, it will come naturally, to everyone’s satisfaction.
