How To Play Bayonetta on Linux

Making Bayonetta Run on Linux.

Bayonetta is a game designed for Microsoft Windows. However, it can run reasonably well on Linux using Steam. However, Steam is not preinstalled on any of the Linux operating systems. Therefore, if you want to use it, you will have to install it manually.

Install Steam.

For Steam to work on your Linux computer, you need a terminal window. You can open a terminal window on your Linux desktop by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T on your keyboard. Or launch the application by searching for “Terminal” in the application menu.

With a terminal window open, you can begin installation. Follow the installation instructions below, which are appropriate for the Linux operating system you are using.

Ubuntu.

To get Steam working on your Ubuntu system, use the apt install command below.

sudo apt install steam

Debian.

If you are using Debian , you will need to download Steam to your computer from the official Steam website. To do this, use the following wget download command .

wget https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steam.deb

Installation can begin after downloading the latest Steam DEB package to your Debian computer. Use the dpkg command to configure Steam.

sudo dpkg -i steam.deb

After installing the Steam DEB package, you will need to fix any dependency errors during the installation process. To do this, use the command apt-get install -f .

sudo apt-get install -f

Arch Linux.

On Arch Linux , the Steam application can only be installed if the “multilib” software repository is enabled. To enable this repository, open the file /etc/pacman.confin your favorite text editor (as root).

After opening the text file as root, find the “multilib” software repository and remove the # symbol. Then remove the # character from the lines immediately below it. After editing, save your changes and run the following pacman command below.

sudo pacman -Syy

Finally, install the latest version of Steam on your Arch Linux system by running the command pacman -S .

sudo pacman -S steam

Fedora / OpenSUSE.

If you are using Fedora Linux or OpenSUSE, you should be able to get the latest version of Steam working right out of the box using the software tools included with your operating system. However, the Steam Flatpak version performs much better, so we recommend following these instructions instead.

Flatpak.

Steam installs easily through Flatpak. Follow our detailed guide to install the latest Flatpak runtime to get started. After setting up the runtime on your computer, enter the two commands below to get Steam up and running.

flatpak remote-add –if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo flatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam
