Preliminary information

As anticipated, from the moment you would like to know how to understand if you have been blocked on Facebook Messenger , in this tutorial I would like to show you how to implement a series of operations that could help you draw a possible conclusion.

In this regard, before explaining how to act as a smartphone and tablet , using the Messenger app for Android (also downloadable from alternative stores ) and iOS / iPadOS , as well as from the Web (via the official Facebook website ), I must provide you some important preliminary information useful in this regard.

In fact, you must first of all know that blocking on Messenger does not automatically result in blocking even on Facebook as these are two distinct actions.

In fact, in the event of a block by a user on Messenger , the person who blocked you will no longer be able to contact you (via text messages or via calls or video calls) and, vice versa, for a condition of reciprocity, you will no longer be able to chat. on Messenger with the person who blocked you.

However, if you’ve been blocked by someone on Messenger, you can still see their Facebook profile and interact with them, leaving comments or reactions under their posts or posting content on their profile.

Finally, keep in mind that blocking is by no means a definitive condition, as it can be removed at any time.

If you have any doubts or problems, please refer to my tutorial on how to block someone on Facebook .

How to tell if someone has blocked you on Messenger

Having made the necessary premises on what the blocking on Messenger entails , let’s now move on to the most important question of this tutorial. In the next chapters, in fact, I’ll explain how to act, to check if a user has actually implemented a block against you, as regards the Facebook chat . Read on to find out more.

Check the status of activity

The first solution you can put in place is that relating to the verification of the status of activity , relating to the contact that you suspect has blocked you. In fact, if there is actually a block in place by a user, you will not be able to know when this person is online on Messenger . However, this solution cannot be used if the user in question has deactivated the activity status .

However, you can still give it a try and, therefore, if you intend to proceed from your smartphone or tablet, start the Messenger app , in order to log in to your account , if necessary. Once this is done, click on your profile icon at the top and then click on the Activity status item . Finally, move the toggle Show when active to ON to activate this option.

Once this is done, tap on the People item and check if the name of the user you suspect has blocked you is in the list of active users on Messenger . In case of block you will not see the green dot indicating that the user is online and you will not even see the indicator relating to when he was last active (eg Active now or Active 20 minutes ago ).

Using the Messenger chat from Facebook instead , and then acting as a web browser, you can view the activity status of your friends through the Contact section of the sidebar.

Therefore, log in to Facebook and make sure you have activated the Status of activity , to see each other’s one. Then press on the icon (…) in the Facebook sidebar located in the Contacts section and click on the item Activate the activity status .

Once this is done, the names of those who have not blocked you, who have not deactivated the activity status and who are currently online on Facebook will appear in the Contacts section and will be marked with a green dot next to their name.

Check the sending status of messages

Another element that can be useful to you, to understand if you have been blocked on Messenger is to check the sending status of messages .

In case of blocking by a user, in fact, your message sent on Messenger to the user who has implemented the limitation will result as sent but not delivered and not even as displayed .

To carry out this verification you can act from a smartphone and tablet or from a PC . In the first case, start the Messenger app and tap on the chat with the user of your interest, to view the messages you have sent.

Then, presses on a message to view its sending status: if a message is only sent and there is no word displayed , then you may have actually been blocked.

You can also check this from your PC , by connecting to the official Facebook website to open the Messenger chat , via its icon located in the top bar. Once this is done, click on the conversation with the user of your interest, to see the messages sent contained within.

Finally, move the mouse to the last message sent: in case of blocking, this could be marked with the word sent and there will be no word delivered or displayed .

Check that you can make calls and video calls

An additional indicator that a person may have blocked you on Messenger is the inability to make voice and video calls . A user who has blocked you on Messenger will not be able to receive calls or video calls from you.

Therefore, start the Messenger app for smartphones and tablets or open the Messenger chat from PC , connecting to Facebook . Once this is done, go to the conversation with the user of your interest and press the handset icon or the  video camera icon , to try to make a voice call or a video call.

In the event of a block, in fact, you will be informed that the user is not reachable or that he does not receive voice or video calls (from a smartphone ) and that there is no answer (from a PC).

How to contact a person who blocked you on Messenger

Would you like to contact the person you think has blocked you, to seek clarification on the matter, but you don’t know how to do it? In this case, you must take into consideration that the fact that a person has blocked you on Messenger does not mean that you cannot contact that person in an alternative way.

For example, in fact, if you have his phone number you can for example call him , send him a classic SMS or write him on WhatsApp . Alternatively, you can also get in touch with the person of your interest using other messaging apps, such as Telegram or Skype.
