We are all in a WhatsApp group by commitment in which they send a lot of videos, memes and GIFs that, let’s be honest, most of the time we are not interested. It may also be the case that we share intimate images with that person. Be that as it may, the fact is that we do not want those photos and videos to end up mixed with the rest of the photos in the gallery.
To hide the photos of a specific chat or group, simply follow these steps:
- Within the chat, click on the name of the person or group at the top.
- Within the options that appear, we select “Visibility of multimedia files”.
- By default it will be in “Default (Yes)”, but what interests us is to select no.

How to hide all WhatsApp photos from gallery
If the reason for hiding WhatsApp photos is simply that they are not mixed with the photos we take with the camera, there is also the option of hiding all the photos that come to us through the app. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click on the button with the three dots on the top left and enter Settings.
- Then go to the Chats section.
- Finally, deactivate the option “Visibility of multimedia files”.
Whether we hide the photos of a chat or all of WhatsApp, we will ensure that the images do not appear in the gallery, but neither in the specific folder ‘WhatsApp Images’. And where are they? You can find them with the file explorer, inside a subfolder called Private.
Of course, those that were already there will not disappear, but it applies to the photos that we receive from that moment on . If we deactivate it, all the photos will be shown as before.
