Becoming an emissary in Sea of Thieves is like stepping foot on a ship for the first time – it’s an exciting opportunity filled with limitless potential rewards but equal in difficulty and unknown. Taking the plunge and making a deal is easy, but it can be hard to figure out what to do next.
How to get the emissary flag in Sea of Thieves?
The first step for the player is to swear allegiance to one of the five trading companies that the emissaries work for. To do this, you need to buy an emissary flag, which costs 20,000 gold, from the company they choose. Not every crew member on a ship needs to buy a flag if at least one does.
Each company has its own specific requirements for purchasing a flag. Here is the breakdown:
- Gold Keepers: Must be rank 15 among the gold keepers. Can be purchased from a Gold Hoarder representative found at every outpost.
- Order of Souls: Must be rank 15 with Order of Souls. Can be bought from the representative of the Order of Souls, which can be found at every outpost.
- Merchant Alliance: Must be rank 15 in the Merchant Alliance. Can be purchased from a trade alliance representative found at every outpost.
- Reaper’s Bones: Offered to anyone who manages to get to the Reaper’s Hideout.
- Athena’s Treasure: Offered by the Pirate Lord to anyone who has become a Pirate Legend.
The crew must then vote at the emissary table whether or not to represent the Trading Company, similar to the voting process on flights. Emissary tables for the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance, and Reaper’s Bones can be found next to each outpost. The Treasure of Athena table will always be next to the Mysterious Stranger in the tavern.
If the team votes for the trading company, then two flags will be raised on their ship – one at the stern and a pennant flying over the Crow’s Nest. The flags will remain until the team decides to lower them at the table or until the ship is sunk.
