You do not need to spend hours and hours searching through images, but there are programs that eliminate duplicates in Windows 10 and we will review some of them below.

It is a free program that is responsible for reviewing the images that are on your computer, in a specific directory that you have chosen. It is compatible with all versions of Windows and is available in several different languages. In addition, it supports multiple image formats such as J PEG, PNG, WMF or RAW in case you have photos in several different types of files. It is capable of detecting identical photographs even if they are rotated and it will analyze all the coincidences between them so that you can make a final decision: if we want to delete them or if we prefer to leave both even though they look very similar.
When the program starts to work, it performs a scan of the directory that you have chosen and that you want it to analyze. It will scan for photos with matches. Once it finds two identical images, it gives us the exact percentage of similarity that exists between them to know if it is identical or very similar. You may have taken a burst of 100 photos and they are not all the same but they are not worth storing because there is only one that is worth, for example. When the scan is finished you can decide what to do with each of the images found as duplicates. It is enough to choose one by one until the end. The great advantage is that the program will not delete them automatically without asking.
VisiPics
VisiPics has an interface that looks a bit dated, just like its website. But it is another of the free programs that you can download in Windows 10 to delete duplicate photos or repeated images on your computer. You just have to tell it where to scan and it will look for identical files or files that are very similar. The first thing we must do is download it for free from its website, install it on the computer and we will put it to work. You must choose the folder or folders you want to scan if, for example, you have just returned from a trip.
Once you’ve chosen the folder, the scanner begins. As they explain from their website, all the duplicates detected are shown side by side with the necessary information: size of the image itself, file name and type.
The interface is simple and promises to analyze 100,000 images in just three hours so you won’t have to spend days scanning duplicate photos. It supports JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, PCX, TIFF, TGA, RAW …
AntiDupl
Specialized in photographs but compatible with all kinds of formats. AntiDupl is another of the essential programs to find identical images and eliminate them. It is a free open source software that we can download from its main website and that is continuously reviewed to have updates and continue to function correctly despite the fact that its website may seem too outdated or inconspicuous. You just have to go to “Download” and choose the version you want. As of the writing of this article, the latest version is from March 2020 and you can download the .exe file to start using the program on your computer.
Once you have it, you can choose the directory or folder on the computer that you want to check and it will begin to find the same files. It has algorithms that allow us to find very similar photos or photos that are exactly the same and we can see one and the other on the screen before deciding if we want to delete them or not.
It is compatible with all kinds of image formats and we can compare or delete photos that are in JPEG, GIF, TIFF, BMP, PNG, EMF, WMF, EXIF, ICON, JP2, PSD, DDS and TGA. We will have no problem using it and it is easy to use.
Pixiple
Also free is Pixiple, another open source tool that allows us to search for all repeated images. It has no cost and uses the metadata of the photographs that we have on the computer in addition to their pixels. Once it has found two images that it considers to be identical or similar, it shows them to us. We decide what we want to do. You can choose to go to the next couple of images, open the folder it is stored in, or simply tap on “Delete file” to delete the image you don’t like.
The groups of images or the supposedly duplicated pairs go by and you decide what to do with each one of them, without any complications. The interface is easy and we can have the comparison before deciding what to do. It supports PNG, HPEG, GIF, TIFF and BMP formats and you can install it on any version of Windows that is equal to or greater than Windows 7.
AllDUP
AllDup is one of the most practical tools not only to find the same photos or identical images but it also allows us to find duplicates of any kind. Not only does it look at the content itself, but the search engine takes into account a number of factors: file name, file extension, file size, file content, file dates, and file attributes.
It is compatible with all types of files and is capable of looking for similarities within formats such as: TXT, RFT, DOC, DOCX, 7Z, ARJ, CAB, CB7, CBR, CBT, CBZ, EPUB, GZ, ISO, LZH, LHA, NRG, RAR, TAR, ZIP … It not only allows us to do it with duplicate photos but also with music files, for example, since it is compatible with MP3 and allows you to listen to the files before deciding whether to delete it.
You can choose the source folders, you can choose the search criteria that the program should follow and finally you will see all the available results and if you delete it.
