How to create a template in Pages for Mac

One of the most comfortable features when starting a new document in Pages are its templates. Without being too many to overwhelm us, the app offers us an important variety that ranges from invoices to resumes, through books or letters. We can also create our own templates very easily , let’s see how to create, edit, use and manage them.

How to create a template in Pages for Mac

Creating a template in Pages is as easy as creating a document and saving it as such . So the process begins by opening an existing template or a blank document and creating the design we want. We can add images, logos, text fields, titles , separators, everything we consider appropriate to shape the document. When we have finished the steps are very simple:

1. In the Filemenu we touch Save as template .
2. We touch add to the template selector.
3. We write your name.
4. We press Enter (↵).

Nothing else. We will see that in the template selector, at the bottom, under the title My templates , the one we have just created appears. To use it, we just have to select it as we would any other template in the list and produce the document normally.

Let’s bear in mind that, thanks to iCloud, custom templates are saved and synchronized between all our devices , so we will find the one we just created on our iPad and Mac. It should be said that, in step two, we can, if we wish , touch the Save option to store our template outside of the template selector. In this case, it will not be synchronized with our devices nor will it be shown as an option to choose, but we can send or save it as we wish.

How to edit, rename or delete a template

Once we have created the template, the time may come when we need to make a change or even delete it. For now it is not possible to directly edit a template, fortunately we can achieve the same goal in the simplest way .

1. We open the Pagesapp .
2. We select the template we want to edit and open it.
3. We modify the template with the appropriate changes.
4. We repeat the steps to create a new template that we have seen above, but assigning it a new name.
5. We remove the original template.

How do we remove the original template? Very easy, in the same way that we can also change the name . The steps are these:

1. We open the Pagesapp .
2. We select the template that we want to edit.
3. We secondary click on the template.
4. Click on Deleteor Rename .

Then we simply write the new name and press Enter or confirm the deletion in the dialog box that appears.

So we can make Siri answer us “Hey Siri” even when our iPhone is face down or covered

It is clear that Pages templates, whether they are the default ones that come with the application or those that we can create in a personalized way, are a very interesting function to improve productivity . It is clear that opening our own template and making two modifications to it will always be more comfortable than having to clone a previous document, rename it, edit it, etc.
