Delete iCloud Photos from your iPhone or iPad
iCloud is the glue that allows you to hold all your Apple devices together. Depending on whether we have streaming photos activated , the iCloud library or none of them, deleting a photo on the iPhone or iPad will be different. Let’s see how we should do it.
First, we must go to Settings> Apple ID> iCloud> Photos. There we will see how we have configured our photo library or streaming photos , in case we have them activated. After consulting this setting, we can do the following:
- If we have one of these settings activated, just go to Photos, select the photos we want to delete and press the trash icon to delete them. When erasing them from any device, they will be erased on the other devices connected to our Apple ID.
- If, on the other hand, we do not have the photos in streamingor iCloud, we must delete the photos on all the devices in which we have them.
- If we use a Mac or PC to store our photos and then synchronize them with the iPhone or iPad, we will have to delete them first on the computer, synchronize and check that they have disappeared.
How to delete iCloud photos from any web browser
One of the advantages of having the photos in iCloud is that you will also be able to access them from any browser . That means that your entire library or your photos in streaming are at your disposal. Including the possibility of deleting them from iCloud.
To delete any photos or videos from iCloud, just follow these directions:
- On a PC or Mac, go to icloud.com from your web browser.
- Enter your Apple ID credentials.

To delete one or more photos from iCloud, select them and press the trash button . Confirm the action and they will be gone.
Completely delete photos from iCloud
Just as when deleting photos from the computer where we synchronize a photo requires then deleting them from the trash to make them disappear completely, the same thing happens in iCloud. When we use this service and delete a photo or video, they do not disappear completely yet. It takes an extra step to suppress them altogether.
And it is that iCloud saves everything that we delete in the Deleted album. It will keep it there for 30 days, after which it will be permanently deleted. No way to get them back . In a way, it emulates what happens with the traditional way of deleting files on a conventional computer.
If what we want is to delete the photos and videos permanently, without waiting those 30 days, we must do the following:
- Open Photos on any device connected to your iCloud account.
- Go to the “Deleted” album, it’s in the “Albums” tab, at the very bottom.

Here you will see all photos and videos deleted in the last 30 days, with an associated countdown. When it reaches zero, it is automatically deleted.
