How to clean iPhone microphone

How to clean iPhone microphone.Whenever you make calls with your iPhone , do your interlocutors tell you that they have trouble hearing you, that your voice is too low or that it is disturbed? Most likely this is due to the fact that the microphone of the “iPhone by” is dirty and would need a healthy cleaning operation. How do you say? Have you already thought about it but you don’t have the slightest idea how to do it? Well, I don’t see the problem, I can explain it to you.

If you dedicate a few minutes of your precious time to me, I can illustrate, in fact, what are the operations you can perform to clean the iPhone microphone , so that you can start using it again without problems. Before you can think about who knows what, I want to point out that you won’t have to do anything particularly complex or that is out of your reach. The steps to take are quite simple even for the less knowledgeable in terms of new technologies (a bit like you, in short).

If the problems persist, it will also be my concern to explain to you how to contact Apple support, in order to ask for further support and, if necessary, a possible replacement. But now just chat and let’s get to work. I wish you, as usual, happy reading and I wish you the best of luck for everything.

Clean the iPhone microphone; How to clean iPhone microphone

Are you interested in understanding how to clean your iPhone microphone and don’t know how to do it? Then follow the instructions on what to do that you find below.

First, however, you have to worry about identifying the position of the microphone (main, lower and rear) on the “iPhone by” and you must get the necessary to carry out the cleaning operation. To find out more, please read on.

Location identification

In order to clean the iPhone microphone, you must first find its location on the device. The iPhone, to be precise, is equipped with three microphones : the main one, the lower one and the rear one . Want to find out how to clean iPhone bottom microphone , but don’t know where it is, exactly, on the device? Let’s find out right away.

The front one is located in the upper part of the iPhone; the lower one, on the other hand, is placed on the lower side of the device, on the left, next to the Dock / Lightning connector, while the rear one is placed between the camera (or the cameras, in case, for example, you are following the tutorial to find out how clean microphone iPhone 12 ) and the Flash.

Necessary

After locating the location of the three microphones on the iPhone, you need to get the necessary equipment to clean them.

What you need, first of all, is a soft cloth (such as those in microfiber or deerskin), on which to place the device during work in order to prevent it from being scratched or accidentally slipped.

We now come to the real core of the matter and try to understand how to proceed to clean the three microphones on the iPhone.

First, place your iPhone on the soft cloth resting on a flat surface, with the front of the device facing up. Then take the brush, the brush or the cotton swab and start to gently clean the front microphone, making slow and careful movements that go from left to right or from right to left.

By doing this, you should be able to remove all the accumulated dirt. Repeat the operation in question more than once, until you see that the microphone is finally clean.

Then switch to the bottom microphone of the device. The operations to be carried out to be able to clean it are practically similar to those seen together above for the front microphone. You must, therefore, use the brush, the brush or the cotton swab to get rid of dust, dirt and so on. The same goes for the rear microphone.

At the end of the cleaning, if you continue to see signs of dust and / or dirt, you can also try to blow gently on the microphones, so as to remove the last residues of dirt left.

What I strongly advise you to avoid, however, is to use small cans of compressed air or liquid detergents, such as water, as expressly indicated on the page dedicated to cleaning iPhones on the Apple website.

If you want to deepen the cleaning procedures, going to act on the entire device, I suggest you take a look at my tutorial dedicated to how to clean iPhone , which also explains in detail how to clean the microphone.

In case of further problems

Despite carrying out the cleaning operation above, do you still have problems using the microphone of your iPhone? It could be a hardware failure , a momentary “catch” or even a problem related to bad reception of the signal from your telephone company. In short, it depends.

To rule out this or that other cause and to try to deal with it, follow the instructions on what to do that I have provided you in the steps below.

Test the main microphone

Considering the fact that any problems in the use of the microphone could be attributable to damage at the hardware level, in order to exclude (or take into consideration) this hypothesis, I invite you first to test the main microphone of your device. To do this, just use the Voice Memos app , included “standard” on all Apple-branded smartphones. Let’s see immediately how.

First of all, take your Apple smartphone, unlock it , access the home screen and press the icon of the aforementioned Voice Memos application (the one with the black background and the path ).

Once the main screen of the app is displayed, start recording a short audio clip by pressing the red circular button located at the bottom center and start speaking into the microphone. After a few minutes, you stop recording by always tapping on the same button.

Then play the audio clip you just recorded by pressing the Play button that you find under the relevant timeline, at the top of the screen. If the iPhone microphone is not affected, you should be able to hear your voice clearly and the audio quality should therefore be optimal, without distortion, crackles or rustles.

Test the bottom and rear mic

To perform the iPhone bottom and rear microphone test instead, you need to use the Camera app and record a video using the device’s front camera.

So, take the iPhone, unlock it, access the home screen and press the Camera application icon (the one with the gray background and the black camera ). Then select the Video option from the bottom of the screen, make sure that the camera in use is the front one (if not, set it yourself by pressing the button with the arrows on the right) and start recording a movie by tapping on the red circular button , then begins to speak into the microphone.

After a few seconds, stop recording the movie by tapping the above button again, exit the Camera app, open the Photo app (the one with the multicolored flower icon ), select the video just recorded in the Photo section of the app and start playback by pressing the Play button visible on the screen.

To test the rear microphone, instead, carry out the same steps above but, in this case, check that the camera used is the rear one (if this is not the case, you can always set it by pressing the button with the circular arrows located in bottom right).

Regarding both the videos recorded with the front camera and those recorded using the rear camera, if there are no problems with the microphone, your voice should not be dim and the audio quality is optimal, without distortions, crackles or hisses. .

Other useful tips

If despite cleaning the iPhone microphone you continue to experience problems and if from the tests carried out everything seems to be in order or, if not, you want to avoid the worst, I strongly advise you to put into practice some other small tricks that can help you restore the correct functioning of your device, in case of a momentary “catch” or a problem related to reception. Here they are.

  • Unplug any headphones and earphonesconnected to your iPhone.
  • Avoid blocking the microphoneson the iPhone with your fingers or the case (if present) while holding the device or while recording a video.
  • Remove display protectors, films or cases(if any) that cover the iPhone microphones.
  • Move to an area where “there is more range”(you can easily check the signal level by the number of “cleats” in the upper right part of the iPhone display), obviously if the problems occur only during phone calls .
  • Turn the iPhone off and on again, as I explained to you in my tutorial on how to restart iPhone .
  • Install the latest version of iOSavailable for your iPhone, as I explained to you in my tutorial on how to update iPhone .

Contact Apple

Have you cleaned the microphone of the iPhone but you continue to encounter problems and not even the further useful information to deal with and / or identify any malfunctions have been helpful to you? Then I really think you need to get in direct contact with Apple to try to solve.

Depending on your means as well as your needs and preferences, you can contact the customer service of the Cupertino company using one of the systems indicated and explained below. Choose freely what you think will do the most for you, they are all equally reliable.

  • Telephone– make a call to the toll-free number 800 915 904 and follow the instructions of the recorded voice. The call is free and the number is active from Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 19:45.
  • Web– connected to the online support page on the Apple website, click on the icon for the iPhone and follow the suggested wizard to specify the type of problem encountered and to get help.
  • Apple Support app– download the Apple Support app on your iPhone or other iOS device you own, launch it, connect to your Apple account, select your iPhone from the list of devices you can get support for and, from the list that is shown to you, select the item related to your doubt or problem. Then follow the directions given to you.
  • Twitter– Tweet or DM to the @AppleSupport account indicating your doubts or problems. You should soon receive an answer.
  • Apple Store– Go to an Apple Store and ask for help from the employees. If you don’t know where the closest Apple Store is to your area, you can find out by consulting the list on the dedicated web page .

If you need more explanations regarding the practices described above, I invite you to read my tutorial dedicated specifically to how to contact Apple .
