How to backup iPhone

How many times have you ever lost all the data saved on your iPhone? Here is a guide on how to keep and retrieve them at any time!

Our mobile phones have become the repository of all our activities:

  • Photo;
  • Video;
  • Messages;
  • App;
  • etc.

If you want to sell or gift your smartphone to buy a new one, but don’t want to lose your data , all you need to do is make an iPhone backup . The same is true if you lose the latter and at least want to retrieve the information you had in memory.

Whatever the reason that drives you to  back up your iPhone , know that the procedure is really simple and intuitive, and you have two alternatives to do it:

  • Directly from your mobile;
  • Using a PC with iTunes.

Let’s see both options in detail.

  1. How to backup iPhone from mobile
  2. How to backup iphone with iTunes
  3. IPhone backup problems and how to fix them

How to backup iPhone from mobile

To back up iPhone directly from mobile, all you need is a stable Wi-Fi connection and the charger. The backup, in fact, takes place via iCloud and can take a lot of data traffic and some time. To be sure that the connection does not fail during the backup, and that the mobile phone does not discharge, put it in charge and connect to Wi-Fi.

Having said that, go to Settings, ” your name ” will appear and click on “iCloud”. Here move the lever from Off to On, so that it is green and click on “Back up now”. The process can take several tens of minutes, depending on the amount of information to be saved and the speed of your internet network. In any case, you will be able to follow the progress of the backup “real time” and, once finished, you will see the exact date and time when the process was completed.

In this same session, you can set your iPhone to automatically back up every day , so you always have a copy of your files available and eliminate the risk of losing them, whatever happens to your iPhone.
When you need your backup, all you have to do is go to Settings> General> Restore and choose “initialize content and settings”, follow the wizard and select the latest backup from those made on iCloud.

As we have seen, iCloud backup requires a Wi-Fi connection and a power outlet. Additionally, iCloud offers free cloud storage of up to 5GB. If your data exceeds this threshold, then you will have to pay for extra space. The figure is not huge: it starts at 99 cents a month for 50 GB. However, if you don’t want to spend this money you have an equally viable alternative. So let’s see how to backup iPhone to computer .

How to backup iphone with iTunes

iTunes is a program installed on Macs by default. If you have a Windows PC you can still download it for free and install it. Whatever your computer is, make sure the version of iTunes you have is the latest one.

Once this is done, you will need to connect your iPhone to the computer through the supplied cable. Select your iPhone when it is viewed by iTunes. In the Summary item, click on “This computer” to save the data on the PC and “Backup encryption” if you also need to save the Health and activity information. Backup encryption allows you to enter a password for your data and is just another defense for your sensitive information.
If you don’t need to save your Health & Activity data, you can also opt for an unencrypted backup. At this point, all you have to do is click on “Back up now” and wait patiently for the process to finish.

When you need to restore this backup on your iPhone, you will have to follow the same process seen above and click on “Restore backup”, choosing the last backup made on your PC.
Whether you decide to backup via iCloud or via iTunes it is good to know that what we have explained above is valid not only for the iPhone, but the same process also applies to iPad and iPod Touch.

Great! Now that you know how to backup iPhone to PC , you should be able to properly keep your data, without any risk of losing it. Before concluding, however, let’s see what problems you might encounter in backing up and how to fix them.
