How to Backup Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & Linkedin Account

If there is one truth about social media, it is that everything lives online forever. While this is mostly true, it pays to not risk losing your social media posts and content. Whether it’s the fear that a hacker might delete your account, or your decision to delete an account, backing up your accounts is always a good idea. For some, taking a screenshot of their tweets or Instagram posts works as a “backup,” but there are certainly better methods you can use. Below we will see the best methods to backup your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & Linkedin accounts , saving chat history, contents and posts on your computer.

Facebook

Facebook is probably the social media where a large part of your “social” life is present with family photos, friends and best memories. Keeping those memories forever is a smart thing to do, and “backup” lets you do that. Here are the steps to follow to make Facebook backups.

1. Log into Facebook .

2. Click on your profile photo in the corner and select ” Settings and Privacy “.

3. Now look for an option on the left side of the screen that says ” Your Facebook Info “.

4. Find the ” Download your information ” option.

The next steps are a little more personalized and depend on what you want to save. Facebook allows you to download all of your history, including posts, photos, group messages, and so much more. There is also the option to capture the entire history or any data relating to a desired time period.

Twitter

Like Facebook, Twitter is also a potential place that hosts much of your “social media” story. Also on Twitter you can backup and download all your historical content.

  1. Go to Settingsvia Twitter.com and look for the “ Your Twitter Data” option .
  2. Here are some options that Twitter offers to be as transparent as possible. You can view your device or account history, as well as any relevant advertising data.
  3. You can search for anything you need. When a menu like the one shown below appears, click on “Download your data archive”.

Click ” Request Archive ” and wait. Twitter will send you a link to your registered email address to download the full content of your account.

  1. To protect itself from malicious behavior, Twitter only allows you to make this backup once every 30 days.

Instagram

Instagram also makes it easy to back up a copy of everything you’ve posted on Instagram. Here’s how to do it via a PC:

  1. Log into your profile and click the Settingsbutton .
  2. Find ” Privacy and Security” and click on it.
  3. Scroll down until you see “ Data Download” and click “ Request Download“.
  4. Now enter the email address you wish to receive the Instagram data and password to verify your account.
  5. Now wait for the email that will have “Your Instagram data” as the subject and a link to the website to download this data. Once you click on the link, locate and click “Download data” and follow the rest of the instructions.

It is possible to do this Instagram backup operation also using your smartphone and following these steps:

  1. Log into your profile and click the icon with three overlapping horizontal lines.
  2. Tap the Settingsbutton , then tap ” Security> Download Data“.
  3. Enter your e-mail address, the one where you want your account history to be sent and click “ Request Download“.
  4. Verify your account by entering your password.
  5. You will receive an email with the subject “Your Instagram data” and a download link

It must be considered that Instagram reserves the right to send the link within 48 hours of the request.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn has traditionally been more business oriented than personal life, but even then a backup could always be useful. Here are the instructions to backup Linkedin:

  1. Select the ” Me” icon at the top of your LinkedIn Page, then select ” Settings and Privacy“.
  2. Click the Privacytab at the top of the page.
  3. Under the ” How LinkedIn uses your data” section, click ” Get a copy of your data“. Note that LinkedIn may require you to log back into your account to verify your identity.
  4. Once you have entered the “ Download your data” page, you can select which data to download. This includes connections, private messages, profile and articles you may have written
