What options do I have on my LinkedIn account besides deleting?

The most common complaint from LinkedIn users is receiving constant emails in their mailbox. The reality is that solving this problem is extremely simple and will not take more than a few minutes.

Receive fewer emails and notifications

First you must go to the main page of your LinkedIn account and enter the “Me” section. Go to the Settings and privacy section > Email > Conversations and disable notifications.

Once you have finished, select “Back to email” and you can continue deactivating notifications of everything that you are not interested in receiving in your email . That way LinkedIn won’t send emails to your mailbox as regularly.

How can you download your LinkedIn data and not lose it?

If you want to leave LinkedIn but keep all the contacts, connections and information in general that you have collected during all your time of use, the platform allows you to export all this information before closing your account: you simply have to request it.

To do so, you must go back to your LinkedIn profile and go to: Settings and privacy> Data privacy> How LinkedIn uses data> Change, this last option is found next to Get a copy of the data. Select “Do you want something in particular? Select the data files that interest you the most”, click on Connections and Request file .

Check the request with our password and select “Done”. We will not get the file directly, but an email will be sent to our account with a link from which we can download all the information from our LinkedIn profile.

What will happen after unsubscribing with your contacts and profile?

All information related to your profile such as contacts, questions, answers and publications will be deleted from the platform and your profile will no longer appear in platform searches (although the latter may take time to take effect). Another option instead of deleting your account is to delete or block contacts on LinkedIn  that you are not interested in.

How to permanently delete your LinkedIn account?

To permanently delete your LinkedIn account, go to Settings & Privacy > Account Preferences > Account Management in your profile and select Change under Close Account. All that remains is to answer the reasons for closing your account and confirm the closing of your account with your password.

If your problem is a duplicate account , then you should be careful to only delete the duplicate account instead of completely deleting your profile by accident and losing all your information.

Can an account be reopened if I regret deleting it?

Yes, but to recover said account it must have been deleted within a period of less than 20 days . Additionally, LinkedIn will not retrieve: Groups, What you were following (influencers, companies, etc.), Pending or Ignored or Pending Invites, and Endorsements and Recommendations. If you plan to recover your account you can consult on LinkedIn the steps to recover your account .

What to do if you cannot access your account and that is why you want to delete it?

If you cannot log in to your account , it is not necessary to resort to such extreme measures as closing your account. You can find much simpler solutions than something as drastic as deleting your account and losing much of your information.

Reset your password

To recover your password, simply go to the LinkedIn login page and click on the message Forgot your password? , whereupon you will receive an email from LinkedIn to reset your password.

You just have to click on the link provided in the email and follow the instructions to change our password. Once we have finished we can re-enter our account with the password we have assigned.

Ask for help by email

If your case or problems are too serious and/or complex and you cannot solve them on your own, it is best to contact LinkedIn support for help. Support should be able to fix more extreme cases.

These are all the ways to delete your LinkedIn account, however considering all the problems that this entails, the best advice is to try to solve the problems of your account instead of making a decision that can become irreversible.
