What to do to place filters on your Gmail emails?

Placing a filter in your Gmail email is quite simple , you just have to follow the steps that are immediately presented:

  • Click on the configuration button located in the upper right part and which is shaped like a gear.
  • In the pop-up menu click on the ‘View all settings’ option. Various variables will appear on the screen that you can modify according to your needs and preferences.
  • Go to the section called ‘Filter and blocked addresses’ and at the bottom is the ‘Create filter’ button, by clicking on it you will be able to establish the conditions so that your emails are classified properly, which allow you to separate important information from the irrelevantand locate it quickly.

How to organize your inbox automatically?

There are two options for organizing your email that are similar to the Outlook platform.  These are the filters and labels, which allow you to classify the content of each of your emails. Below we present both options so that you can alternate them and use them at your convenience:

Filter emails

Filters in emails are a powerful tool that will allow you to save time, sort, classify received letters by subject , but you can also reject those that are not of interest to you and that repeatedly arrive in your mailbox. With the use of this tool you will be able to focus on the topics of your interest and  plan your calendar as in Google Calendar to be much more productive.

To the procedure that we present at the beginning of this article, there is a quick alternative that you can do by clicking on the icon that appears next to the search box, a window will be displayed at the bottom of which is the ‘Create filter’ button, click Click on it and configure the filter according to your preferences.

Create labels

The first thing you must do is log in to your email , once in the inbox, select the email you want to classify , right click on it.

In the drop-down menu, select the ‘Label as’ option , again another drop-down window will appear in which the labels already created or new ones can be generated. Select the alternative you want and if by chance you ran out of internet use the offline method.

How to create folders within your Gmail?

You can also use folders to organize your emails which in this environment are equivalent to labels , which you can create regardless of the device you are using. Here is the procedure you need to follow in each case:

On your Android or iOS cell phone

Unfortunately at this time you can’t create folders or labels in Gmail from the Android mobile phone app. The only thing that can be done is to modify these labels.

In contrast to Android devices, this option can be done on IOS devices, to do this, perform the following steps:

  • Open the Gmail app.
  • Click on the menu icon (column of three horizontal lines)
  • In the ‘Labels’ section, click on the ‘Create new’ option.
  • Identify the label according to your needs, remember that you can add them to other labels and assign a color to differentiate them. And ready.

From your PC

In case you are working from your PC, the procedure you need to follow is very simple, you just have to locate yourself in the menu that is on the left side of the inbox and at the end of all the labels created there is an option called ‘New Tag’ select it , a window will appear allowing you to identify it and place it independently or nest it as a sub-tag.

Where to change the color of email labels?c

A much more graphic, practical and quick location way is to assign a different color to each label created , for this you only have to follow the steps below:

  • Locate the label to which you want to assign a color.
  • With the mouse pointer over the label in question, right-click on the column of 3 dots that appears next to it on the right side.
  • In the pop-up menu, click on the ‘Label color’ option, select the one you prefer and that’s it.
