IO is the application of the Public Administration that you also need to participate in cashback in Italy . With the IO App you can also receive communications from public, local and national bodies, manage payments, deadlines and access the holiday bonus .
The official App to participate in cashback in Italy is IO and it can be downloaded free of charge for iOS and Android: find out how to download IO . Downloading this application is not the only way to join the initiative: there are in fact other channels – always official – that you can consult to participate in cashback without the IO App: discover the affiliated Issuers for cashback .
On 7 December 2020, the App update was released to integrate all the cashback part officially started on 1 January 2021 after a first experimental phase – called Christmas Extra Cashback – which took place from 8 to 31 December 2020.

How to download IO App
IO download is free for both iPhone and Android smartphone. You can download the IO app on the App Store here and on Google Play here .
When it costs IO App
IO PagoPa is free , so you don’t have to pay to download it.
How IO works for cashback
The operation of the App IO is very intuitive.
- Download the IO App on your mobile;
- Click on the App icon to start it;
- Choose whether to log in with SPID or CIE (electronic identity card);
- Accept the terms and conditions of the service;
- Visit the PORTFOLIO section;
- Click on BONUS AND DISCOUNTS + ADD to add cashback;
- Click on ACTIVATE CASHBACK;
- Enter the IBAN of your account, i.e. where the money will be credited to you;
- Choose which payment methods to activate and then enter your credentials (insert the cards you use to pay, if you use one not entered at this stage, the transaction will not be recorded for cashback purposes);
- Monitor the status of your cashback from the WALLET section.
Below we explain the individual steps to take in the context of cashback.
Log in to IO
After downloading the app, start it to see this first screen [ image 1 ] in which you are asked whether to authenticate with SPID or with CIE, that is the Electronic Identity Card.

How to access App IO with SPID
If you have your SPID credentials, all you have to do is:
- press the ENTER WITH SPID button
- select the Identity Provider with which you have subscribed your SPID
- follow the guided procedure in which you will be asked for your email, password and the code you will receive via sms.
How to access App IO with CIE
If you are in possession of an Electronic Identity Card, all you have to do is:
- enter the PIN of your identity card
- follow the wizard

Participate in the cashback
Visit the WALLET section: you will notice that there is only one rectangle dedicated to the HOLIDAY BONUS. To add that on the CASHBACK as well, all you have to do is select the blue band with the words BONUS AND DISCOUNTS + ADD and at that point select CASHBACK. The steps just described are also shown in Image 4 .

At this point, to make your cashback membership effective, you must click on the rectangle and tick all the points relating to Privacy and the Terms and Conditions of the service. By clicking on the DECLARO and CONTINUE button you will be registered for cashback.
Enter IBAN and payment methods
The two final stages of your registration consist in entering the IBAN code of the account on which you want to receive the transfer for the disbursement of any refunds that you have accrued and your payment methods. Remember to always use these when paying, otherwise your transactions will not be counted towards cashback.
