How to install the Kindle app

If you are one of those who enjoy reading e-books, magazines and newspapers on your tablet, smartphone or computer, the Amazon Kindle application is for you. This app allows you to save all the books you download and discover the latest releases and best sellers from wherever you are . In addition to downloading and buying books, with the free Kindle app you can subscribe to the Kindle Unlimited plan for € 9.99 per month, which gives you unlimited access to more than a million titles, thousands of audiobooks, magazines, newspapers and comics.

How to download a book

As soon as the Kindle app finishes installing on your device, you can start downloading the books and magazines of your choice. On the one hand you have Amazon, which offers you a selection with a wide variety of titles, among which you will find free universal classics in several languages.

On the other hand, there are web pages such as the Gutenberg Project , where you can download more books completely free in formats compatible with the application (AZW, MOBI, PDF, PRC and TXT). Other websites that offer free ebooks for your Kindle are La Casa del Libro and Free Ebooks Español .

Did you know that you can also read articles in PDF format in the Kindle app? Actually, all files in PDF format! You just have to add them to your account in the application.

If you’re thinking of buying a book on Amazon and still can’t decide, you can read a free multi-chapter sample. Thus, you will see if it hooks you or not and you will know if you want to continue reading the work. All your books are saved in the Library of your application.

If you are interested in reading free e-books in English on your Kindle app , these portals may interest you: The eReader Cafe , Ereader News Today and Bookbub . They inform you which are the free or promotional titles during the day or for a limited time on Amazon. The offer may vary depending on your location, so better check the price when you are redirected to the Amazon page.

Note: If you have a Kindle device and an Amazon Prime subscription at Amazon.com, Amazon.uk, Amazon.fr, or Amazon.co.jp, you can use the Kindle Lending Library , which has more than 800,000 works. This allows you to borrow a free book each month.

How to use bookmarks

Don’t lose the page where you are going in your reading. Just like you would put a bookmark on a paper book, you can add a bookmark to your e-book!

  • If you’re on your computer, just click on the bookmark icon at the top right of your screen.
  • On your smartphone or tablet, touch the screen once and you will see the marker icon in the upper right; tap it once and voila!

To remove the bookmark, just tap the icon again.

How to change the font in your Kindle app

To change the font and its size, click on the Aa symbol that you will see at the top of your screen. There you can choose the font you prefer and even modify the alignment of the text or justification, the line spacing, page width, brightness and color mode.

How to highlight or underline phrases

As with paper books, you can also underline parts of your book in the Kindle app! When you see that interesting phrase or quote, just use your cursor or your finger. Click at the beginning of the text and scroll to the end of the phrase you want to underline. Next, choose the color of your “marker”.

That text will automatically appear in your Notepad , which you can find at the top next to the marker icon. So you will have all your underlined text fragments in one place and you can export them to your device. On your computer, click Export> Save As . On your phone, tap the share icon and then choose between Study Cards (within the app) or E-mail .
