How Notes work on Instagram
As anticipated, in this tutorial I want to explain how Instagram Notes works: a feature that was introduced on the server side in the Instagram app for Android (also downloadable from alternative stores ) and iOS at the beginning of 2023.
Therefore, to have it, it is not necessary to perform any manual update of the app, although I remind you of the importance of having the Instagram app always updated to the latest version to avoid bugs or problems in its operation.
In this regard, you should know that Instagram Notes are a tool which, visible in the section dedicated to private messages , provide a personal space where you can share short text updates.
These messages, similar to WhatsApp’s text status , can be shared with your followers or a select audience. It is only possible to share one note at a time with other people on Instagram and these updates are visible on your profile for up to 24 hours : during this time, all those who view it can reply to the same via the social network’s private messages.
Having clarified this, let’s see together in detail how the Instagram Notes work : in fact, below, I want to show you exactly how to add or remove these updates, as well as how to comment on those of your friends. Read on to learn more.
How to put Notes on Instagram
First, let’s see together how to put notes on Instagram and, then, how to share these status updates with your followers or with an audience you select.
To get started, launch the Instagram app and log in to your account if needed. Once this is done, press the cartoon or airplane icon , top right, to go to the section dedicated to private messages.
Now, in correspondence with the thumbnail of your profile located at the top, press the (+) key and, on the Leave a note screen , write a short text update: you have a maximum of 60 characters available .
Once this is done, choose who to share it with: put a check mark on the Followers you follow item to make this status update visible to the people who follow you and who you also follow each other.
Alternatively, if you only want to share it with a selected audience, tap on the item Closest friends and then add the people with whom you want to share this update by placing a check mark on their names and then pressing the Finish button.
Finally, to share this update with the audience of your choice, press the Share button at the top right. The note you posted will be visible to the public you set for 24 hours , after which it will be automatically deleted.
How to delete Notes on Instagram
Have you shared a Note on Instagram but now you’ve changed your mind and would like to delete it before it automatically expires? No problem, you can do it easily.
Indeed, after sharing the note , you must press on it and press the Leave a new note button if you want to write a new message that will replace the existing one. In this case, therefore, all you have to do is carry out the same operations performed previously to write a new status update and publish it using the Share button .
Instead, if you want to delete the Note on Instagram without sharing a new one , after tapping on it, press the button Delete the note and that’s it. Easy, right?
How to comment Notes on Instagram
Your friends also use Instagram Notes and, therefore, would you like to know how to comment on them? If so, I’d be happy to know that interacting with each other’s status updates is very easy.
As mentioned, you can see your Instagram Notes and also those of the other users you follow through the section dedicated to private messages (the cartoon/airplane icon ). In fact, on this screen, the profile thumbnails of those who use Instagram Notes are shown at the top and you can then read the Instagram Notes of others by tapping on them.
Once this is done, if you want to comment on them, you just have to write the comment in the text field displayed. Finally, press the Send key to send your reply, which will be added to the history of private messages with that user.
