The Honestino Guimarães National Museum or National Museum of Brasilia was inaugurated in 2006, in front of the Leonel de Moura Brizola National Library, the largest collection of books in a public building in all of Brazil. Together they are the current largest cultural complex in the country. The Museum has an exhibition area of 15,000 square meters, added to two auditoriums and a laboratory. Devoted to temporary art exhibitions, it is one more point of the cultural circuit of Brasilia and one of the most recognized in all of Brazil.

The Honestino Guimarães National Museum is one of the projects designed and built in Brasilia by Oscar Niemeyer together with Lucio Costa. It is one of the many magnificent works that the capital of Brazil boasts.
On the Esplanade of the Ministries, in the federal capital, it is possible to see a large concrete plaza from which a gigantic white dome sprouts. It is the building of the Honestino Guimarães National Museum, better known as the Museum of the Republic or National Museum. The minimalist expression of the building, with the shape of a perfect semi-sphere and a prominent ramp, give the work a surreal character.
It consists of an area of 14,000 m2. It is located in an area of government activities, therefore, there are quite a few officials who pass through the area every day. It is a cultural complex that tries to compete in prominence with the cultural potential of São Paulo.
The outer space reached, is a minimalist building with the shape of a sphere that springs from the surface, it looks like the model of a painting that hopes to inspire some artist. It is the style of Niemeyer that is repeated throughout the city. The environment, at times seems so unreal, that even the images that can be obtained from the museum can have a surreal style.
It has an immense concrete roof formed by the dome.
