Open world

Mission difficulty

Ghost Recon: Wildlands is an open world video game in which from the first moment we will have access to all areas of the map. In total there are 21 regions, each controlled by a member of the Santa Blanca cartel. In this way, when starting to play, we will have to go for the weakest links in the organization, dedicated to smuggling, production, security or influences. That is why, although the first region will be mandatory, the rest will be up to us.

In order to enjoy a balanced and progressive gaming experience, it is best to pay attention to the difficulty level of each area. This is indicated by a skull meter that ranges from one to five, with five being the highest difficulty level. Therefore, depending on the region selected, we will have a greater presence of the Santa Blanca cartel and La Unidad (police). In addition, our enemies will be more aggressive and will have better means of transport and weapons to kill us.

Exploring the region

Once inside a region, we will have to explore it as quickly as possible to find information points. To do this, it is best to do it by helicopter or plane, achieving a much faster search for those first clues that will take us to the chief of the area.

In the case of playing cooperatively, the best thing will be for each of the members of the group to go with an aircraft, thus covering the extensive location much faster. However, we will have to be very attentive to the antiaircraft batteries that we will find in the most protected regions, since their missiles can quickly end our exploration.

Main missions

When we explore the information points, we will discover the location of some main missions, while others remain hidden until we complete a series of previous objectives. All these missions will appear on the map with a yellow arrow, receiving information and the fastest way to access them if selected.

To facilitate this process, we can also click on the list of missions to indicate which we have pending and their locations. These main missions are the main axis of the narrative, so, through them, it will be how we will progress through the story to be able to reach our main objective, El Sueño, leader of the Santa Blanca cartel.

Killer Archives

As we carry out main missions, we will unlock information about Operation Kingslayer. These files will appear on the map with a document icon. Thanks to them, we will be able to learn more about the history of Bolivia, the factions or the economic and social culture of the country. In this way, whether with images or videos, it will be very important to research these documents to learn more about the context in which we are immersed.

Province content

Within each region we will also find a series of extra missions that will allow us to get very important aid.

Weapons box

These missions will be marked on the map with a blue logo, consisting of a pistol and the plus symbol, and will be focused on obtaining additional weapons, so it will be very important to carry them out to increase our arsenal. That is why, given its reduced difficulty, it is advisable to take advantage of the long journeys to stop and get these precious objects.

Accessory box

Missions focused on obtaining accessories for our weapons, such as: butts, telescopic sights, triggers, drums, barrel accessories, rails, cannons or muzzles. They are marked with a blue symbol consisting of a pistol and a gear.

Thanks to these accessories we can improve sections such as damage, precision, handling, range, rate of fire, sound reduction or penetration. Something essential to have each weapon to our liking and to be able to face increasingly complicated challenges.

Skill points

It will also be very important that we improve the skills of our character. For this we will have to carry out all kinds of missions, however, if we want to achieve it quickly, each region will include a series of special missions that will reward us with a skill point. All of them will appear with a blue symbol of an arrow pointing upwards.

Bonus Medal

In addition to improving the skills of our character, we will also be able to optimize their performance with the bonus medals, marked with a blue star. These medals will be distributed by each of the regions and will grant us, not only extra items for our inventory, but also percentage increases in our capacities. We will find them in the mission locations, so it will be worth spending some time exploring each new place to find them.

Rebel support

The side missions in Ghost Recon: Wildlands are geared towards supporting the Bolivian rebels fighting the Santa Blanca cartel. In this way, when discovering each new region, we will find different support missions such as stealing supplies, activating radios or disconnecting communication antennas.

By completing these types of missions, we will earn points to unlock Rebel Support skills. This will mean that during the missions we can ask the country’s rebels to hand over vehicles, carry out mortar attacks, send hired thugs, create distractions or reconnoitre the area. Undoubtedly, as the story progresses, it will be more important to have this type of additional aid.

Taking advantage of the trip

In order to carry out all these missions, we can resort to various strategies. The simplest is to take advantage of the long trips between zones to make small stops and complete them. However, if we are more selective or do not want to waste time from one point to another on the map, we can make quick trips between the different shelters available.

Destabilizing the area

As we complete all these missions, we will also destabilize the security of the Santa Blanca cartel. That is why, in the event of completing all of those in a region, we will be able to completely dominate the area and hand over its control to our Bolivian allies.

Skills and resources

As we progress through the game, we will gain experience that will give us access to skill points. Thanks to them we can improve different qualities of our character, as well as unlock new functionalities for the battlefield.

In total there are 6 skill branches: Weapon, Drone, Item, Physical, Squad, and Rebel Support . To unlock a new skill we will need a certain level and a series of resources.

These resources will be of four types: Gasoline, Medicines, Communication and Food . These materials will be distributed throughout the map, mainly in the mission areas, so we will have to be vigilant to obtain these resources.

Armament

We will have to configure our weapons so that it adapts to our style of play and complements that of our teammates. In total we can carry two main weapons equipped, a pistol, a drone and different types of grenades and objects for the mission. Also find out how to configure them .
