This error message is caused by incompatible hardware drivers and, to be more specific, the wireless adapter driver.
How can I resolve the Ndu.sys blue screen of death error?
1. Rename the folder Ndu.sys
- Open the My Computer icon by double-clicking on it or by going to the Start menu and left-clicking from there.
- Double click to enter the C: / partition or the partition where you have installed your Windows 10 Technical Preview.
- Double click on the Windows folder to open it.
- Now find the System32 file inside the Windows folder and double click to open it.
- Now go to the System32 folder, find the drivers folder and double click it to open it.
- After reaching the Drivers folder, you will need to find the Ndu.sys file.
- Right-click on the Ndu.sys file and left-click or tap on the Rename function in the menu that appears.
- Name the Ndu.sys as Ndu.sys11 or whatever name you like, but be sure to change the name and remember it.
Note: If you cannot change the file name, you will need to log in with your administrator account or simply change the permissions you have on this specific file to administrator. - Open partition C again: you have Windows 10 installed.
- Look in the C: partition for the Windows.old folder this time because this should be the old Windows OS you upgraded from.
- Reopen the System32 folder you have in the Windows.old folder.
- Now find and double click to open the drivers folder.
- Look in the drivers folder for the Ndu.sys file.
- Right click on it and select Copy option.
- Now paste it into the drivers folder of the Windows 10 version.
- Close the windows you have opened.
- Restart your Windows 10 computer.
- Check if you still have the same blue screen of death with the Ndu.sys error, but I’m sure you won’t have any more problems from now on.
2. Install the latest network card drivers
- Go to the website of your network card manufacturer.
- Look for the latest version of drivers compatible with the latest version of the Windows 10 operating system.
- Download and install the drivers.

- It should ask you for a system check and in that case you need to left click or tap the Yes button to continue.
- The next window that appears will search for the updates available on your system.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to install the latest Windows 10 updates.
- Reboot the system and check again for the blue screen Ndu.sys.
5. Use a different internet connection
- If you are using a wired internet connection on your Windows 10 computer, try switching it to Wireless and check if you still get the same error message.
- If you are using a wireless Internet connection, do the opposite and switch to a wired connection to see if you still get this error message.
6. Reset Windows 10
Another method that you can use to fix Ndu.sys errors is to update Windows 10. Once you hit the Update button, the operating system will remove all third-party software installed on your computer. However, you will still keep all your personal files and settings.
- Go to Settings> Update & Security> Troubleshoot.
- Select Reset this PC.
- In the newly opened window, select Keep my files.
- Select the version of Windows you want to update> press the Reset button.
- Wait for the process to complete. This may take a few minutes, depending on the amount of software installed on your machine.
7. Run the BSOD troubleshooter
BSOD errors are quite common in Windows 10. For this reason, Microsoft added a built-in BSOD troubleshooter to the Windows 10 Settings page. To run this tool, go to Settings> Update & Security> Troubleshoot> select and run the Blue Screen Troubleshooter.
