FF7 Remake Episode Intermission: How to Play Fort Condor

With the release of FF7 Remake Intergrade on PS5, Square Enix has also released a new story DLC called Episode Intermission. The episode stars Yuffie as the playable main character, along with Sonon, another ninja who helps him on his mission. This story DLC is considerably smaller than the main game, but it also comes with a fun minigame that you can spend a lot of time on. Here’s how to play Fort Condor in FF7 Remake Episode Intermission .

Playing Fort Condor in FF7 Remake Episode Intermission

Fort Condor is a new board game within FF7 Remake that you can play against other NPCs, and is a reference to the iconic Fort Condor tower defense section that is happening shortly after the Midgar arc in the original game. And yes, this minigame is also a competitive tower defense game.

To unlock it, you will first need to get to Sector 7 with Yuffie. It shouldn’t take you long as the first hour of the game will take you through the slums until you get there.

Once you meet Avalanche, you will be able to speak with three different members of the group. Talk to Yolk, the rightmost member twice, and he will introduce you to the Fort Condor minigame. After the tutorial battle, you can start challenging various NPCs in the game to earn Condor Coins. They are indicated on your compass by a small purple icon.

Rules of engagement

The minigame itself is fairly straightforward, although it can be a bit overwhelming at first. There are basically three different types of drives to consider, as shown below:

  • Forward (red):Effective against range, weak against Vanguard.
  • Vanguard (blue):Effective against attackers, weak against range.
  • Remote (green):Effective against Vanguard, weak against attackers.

At the top of the screen, you will see an ATB indicator that slowly fills up over time. You will need to use the gauge to deploy units on your map. Once deployed, your units will automatically start marching towards enemy headquarters and outposts to attack them, and your enemy will do the same. Whoever takes down the headquarters and bases first, or whoever has the most outposts when time is up, wins.

If the allotted time runs out and all outposts are still standing, whoever kills the first outpost wins.

Winning against NPCs will allow you to unlock more boards in the Fort Condor minigame, as well as new units to experiment with and Condor Coins that can be used to purchase items from the Happy Turtle vendor.
