Elden Ring is the latest action RPG from Bandai Namco and FromSoftware, mixing the Souls formula by introducing a large open world and bringing back some mechanics we’ve seen in previous games. Among them are weapon arts, which appear in this game as collectible Ashes of War. Here is how to get the Ash of War from Golden Vow in Elden Ring.
Get the Ash of War from the Golden Vow in Elden Ring
There are two ways to get Golden Vow; the first is by getting the Golden Halberd that comes with it, and the second is by killing a specific enemy in Limgrave to get Ash of War, which can be placed on any melee weapon.

If you feel safe at the beginning of the game, you can fight the Tree Sentinel boss, which is located just outside the Church of Elleh.
While we don’t recommend fighting him early on, it is possible to take him down with careful positioning, or simply by tormenting him with spells. After defeating him, he will drop the golden halberd that comes with the Golden Vow weapon art.
Note that you can’t change weapon art on Golden Halberd, so you’re pretty much stuck with Golden Vow if you plan on using that weapon.
Defeat Knight Godrick
If you want more flexibility in your build, we recommend choosing Ash of War, which is obtained by killing Godrick Knight in Limgrave.
Head to Stormhill, and just northeast of the Warmaster’s Shack, you’ll find a mounted Godrick Knight patrolling the area. Upon defeating him, you will get the Golden Vow Ash of War as a reward.
Return to any Site of Grace to access the Ash of War menu, and you can attach it to any regular melee weapon of your choice.
