The Nilox Dual S represents an innovation in the Italian brand’s family of products, as it is its first Action Cam equipped with a dual screen, both in color and otherwise. For this reason , it is also renewed in design , which is worth looking at in detail to begin to understand its peculiarities.
On the front we have the large 24MP sensor with a 170° wide-angle lens placed next to the secondary screen, in color, where you can see in real time what the sensor is capturing. On the back, then, is the main 2-inch touch screen , with which to interact with the camera.

Audio and video performance
Let’s start with the quality of the images (photos and videos in general) where what is immediately perceived is a strong color saturation, as is often the case in cameras like this. However, from a features point of view, it is interesting to mention motion detection to recognize moving objects !
As usual, resolutions higher than FullHD (and therefore 2.7K and 4K ) are available, although being only 30 FPS does not guarantee a fairly smooth shot by today’s standards.
The best option remains FullHD at 60 FPS , which however, along with the other modes, suffers from poorly performing electronic stabilization, this is simply limited to cropping the image, which obviously cannot remove all imperfections.
On the other hand, there is an option to correct image distortion , so as to have “flattened” shots, but there is no lack of white balance, exposure compensation, sharpness, bit rate and ISO, up to 6400.
From an audio point of view, the Nilox Dual S is equipped with a microphone (hence mono audio ) that is sensitive enough to capture not only our voice but also background noise, which will therefore be « compensated” (but not completely removed) in post-production.
There’s no audio jack for an external microphone, and of course recording audio with the case means subdued audio. That is, when you go to shoot, don’t be too far from the action camera and make sure there isn’t too much wind or noise.

Its launch price is 149 euros, but it is already possible to find it online for just over 100 euros , which makes it one of the cheapest dual-screen Action Cams. In summary, if this is your budget , the Nilox Dual S is undoubtedly one of the best options , considering, however, the above.

The Nilox Dual S , in all honesty, is still a camera designed for vlogging without too much pretension . Think of it as a device to record your days on the beach or in the mountains to capture memories with all the convenience of a dual screen and dual battery, guaranteeing you a full day of recording, taking home more than 2 hours of video.
