A complete guide to the basic mechanics of an online shooter Deploy and Destroy, plus tips for beginners
Deploy and Destroy is an online shooter developed by the Russian studio Apps Ministry. In collaboration with the Lionsgate film company, the developers managed to create a unique project. Its goal is to allow players to fight each other in virtual arenas, controlling famous movie characters such as John Wick and Ash from Evil Dead.
The game takes place in the fantastic region of the Awesome Valley. The worlds of the characters of various films intersect here. Locations from films are used as play arenas – for example, there is Ash’s hut, as well as a destroyed city from Divergent.

Main menu
After starting the game, you will find yourself in the main menu. There are a number of important functions here that will be needed while playing. In the upper right corner is the store entrance – a yellow button with a cart. The store sells the following in-game items:
- special kits,
- currency,
- boosts,
- boxes,
- helpful resources.
Special kits are different. Some sell playable characters in bulk, while others sell useful equipment. They are usually sold for real money.
If you urgently need a game currency , then it is also sold in the store. There are two types of currency in the game: loans and gold. The first is given for participating in matches – this is the most common game cash. Gold is already a more valuable resource. By spending some gold bars, you can skip the long wait for weapon upgrades or buy yourself new suits without bothering to fulfill the conditions.
Boosts make the gameplay easier: they increase damage or increase the amount of experience gained for matches.
The crates are typical loot boxes. Inside you will find skins, blueprints, and materials that are needed to upgrade items. Chests are sold for in-game gold.
The materials required to upgrade items are sold on the Black Market . The opportunity is limited in time, so we advise you to immediately look at all offers and purchase the necessary materials.
In the lower right corner, there are four buttons responsible for game functions:
- leagues,
- daily bonus,
- news,
The “Leagues” tab displays information about your progress. By participating in matches, you increase your rating. When you reach a certain rating, you move to the next “league”. Bonuses that are issued after the end of the match will depend on this.
If you enter the game every day, then you will be given bonuses . The longer you enter without interruption, the more valuable the bonuses you get. Do not forget to pick up your reward in a special window.

The “Friends” tab is responsible for managing the list of friends. You can view the list of your friends, accept applications from other players and delete unnecessary accounts.
The button that opens the settings is next to the store entry button.
Battles
The search for a game is carried out in the main menu. To join an existing match, select “Ranked Battle” and you will be taken to the match lobby. If you want to add friends to the match, then select a friend in the list on the left and click on him. You can add up to three friends in total.
If you want to create your own match, then select “Custom Game” in the main menu. A window with game settings will open. Here you can select the map on which the match will take place and the game mode.
There are three game modes in total:
- desmatch,
- team deathmatch,
In classic death match, it’s every man for himself. You move across a small map and fight with all the players you meet. Players receive points for each kill. The player with the most points at the end of the match wins.
In a team death match, players are divided into two teams of four. In this mode, killing individual players scores points for the entire team. At the end of the match, the team with the most points wins.
In survival mode, a team of players fight against waves of advancing zombies.
Auto-aiming and auto-shooting are enabled by default in battles. In this control mode, you only need to aim towards the enemy – the game will do the rest for you. If you don’t like this control scheme, you can turn it off in the settings. It’s easy to do this:
- go to the “Control and sensitivity” tab in the options,
- uncheck the Auto-Shoot and Auto-Aim boxes.
This can be done both in the main menu and during the battle. Try both control options and choose the one that suits your play style.
Each hero is armed with firearms and melee weapons. The latter saves in situations where opponents run up close. To strike with such a weapon, approach the enemy and press a special button. A particularly powerful melee weapon is the chainsaw that Ash walks with. It deals more damage than simple knives and does so at a higher range.
Characters
For several months of the existence of the game, the developers managed to add characters from three film franchises: “Ash vs. Evil Dead” , “John Wick” and “Divergent” .
In the list of franchises there is a tab Awesome Squad – there are characters created specifically for the game.
To change the hero, follow these steps:
- choose your favorite movie series,
- click on the “Customization” button,
- select the “Personalization” tab and a window with different characters will open.
Each character has his own equipment, which can be changed or improved if desired. You can do this on the character screen: click on the “Customization” button next to the selected character. The customization window is available both in the main menu and before the start of the match.
In the window that opens, you will see several tabs, each of which is responsible for different equipment:
- main weapon,
- melee weapons,
- chest armor,
- armor on legs,
- first aid kits and grenades,
The last tab is responsible not only for choosing a character, but also for the appearance of the hero. It is possible to change the hero’s hairstyle, hair color, choose a helmet and change the hero’s skin. The changes do not affect the gameplay.
In the tabs with weapons, you can change weapons or improve them. To improve, you will need to find parts, and then wait for a while while the weapon is upgraded. New types of weapons are issued only after you reach a certain level and collect all the parts of the weapon.
The defense rating and attack rating are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Both ratings are summed up from the values that add armor and weapons to the hero.
Some tips
- During the match, keep an eye on the mini-maplocated at the bottom of the screen – this way you will be aware of the approach of opponents.
- If you press the jump button twice, the character will perform a double jump. Try to move around the map like this – it’s fast! It also allows you to dodge shots.
- Do not forget about melee weapons, because this is a great way to quickly deal with the enemy.
- The first aid kit can only be used once during a battle. Therefore, use it as a last resort.
- Move as much as possibleto make it harder to aim at you.
I can’t wait to see the next updates to Deploy and Destroy – the developers have already promised to add characters from the movie series “The Expendables” to the game. It seems they are not going to stop there. And this is understandable – with such rich material, the game can be sustained for a long time.
