Biographical synthesis
Christian was born in Glendale, California. Her first television role was a guest appearance in Dallas, followed by a series regular role as Melody Hughes on the short-lived drama, Berrenger’s.
Interpretations
She is best known for her role as Commander Susan Ivanova on the science fiction television series Babylon 5. She left the series unexpectedly after season four, when contract negotiations for the fifth and final season – exacerbated by the possibility that it would not be the only one – to collapse. J. Michael Straczynski, the creator of the series, maintains that she decided to leave him.1 (Her appearance in the series finale was filmed during the fourth season).
Before Babylon 5, Christian played movie roles as an alien-possessed stripper in The Hidden (1987), a police department psychologist, Susan Riley in Maniac Cop 2, and as the model Hexina in Hexed (1993). She posed nude for Playboy magazine in October 1999. She appeared in two episodes of Freaks and Geeks in 2000. In 2004, she returned to the live stage (and to Laguna Beach, California, where she had attended high school), starring in the premiere. American Michael Weller’s What the Night Is For, with Kip Gilman, directed by Richard Stein, at the Laguna Playhouse. He starred in the BBC comedy Broken News in 2005.
She also played Janine Foster, mother of Peri Brown, on the Doctor Who radio drama “The Reaping,” produced by Big Finish Productions released in the UK in September 2006. She also appeared on the 2002 episode of She Spies, “Spy vs Spy”. He has a musical career, having made three albums Taboo, Claudia Squared and Once Upon a Time as well as collaborating with some of the other Babylon 5 cast members on the album The Be Five.
She stars in the Showtime series Look, which began filming in June 2009 in Los Angeles. He also lent his voice in the Old Game The elder scroll V: Skyrim (2011).
