During pre-production of the show, the role of Luke was originally intended to be a boy named Hiro, adopted from Korea, but the casting directors were impressed with Boyce during the audition process, and ultimately they decided to recreate the role specifically for him.In 2013, Boyce co-starred as Keith Feder for the second time in Grown Ups 2 . Later, in 2015, he is called to play Carlos de Vil, Cruella de Vil’s son, in the original Disney Descendants movie and in 2017 he plays this role again in the Descendants 2 movie .

He lived in Los Angeles with his mother, father, and younger sister. His father is African American and his mother is Jewish, he and a group of friends formed a breakdancing group called “X Mob”.
