Marc platt

Marc Platt ( Pasadena , 2 of December of 1913 – San Francisco , 29 of March of 2014 ) was a dancer, ballet director and choreographer American, whose real name was Marcel Leplat . He was especially known for his portrayal of Daniel Pontipee, one of the seven brothers in the film Seven Brides for Seven Brothers .

Career path

He studied dance with Mary Anne Wells in Seattle . He made his debut as a principal dancer in the Ballets Russes del Coronel de Basil in 1936. With this company he premiered the role of King Dodond in Mikhail Fokine’s Le coq d’or ( The Golden Rooster , 1937) , and that of Malatesta in Francesca da Rimini. (1937) by David Lichine .

He was a dancer with the Monte Carlo Ballet Russe between 1938 and 1942 and participated in the premiere of Leonide Massine’s ballets : Bogatyri (1938), Rouge et Noir (1939), Bacchanale (1939) and Vienna-1814 (1940), in addition to Devil’s Holiday (1939) by Frederick Ashton and The Magic Swan (1941) by Alexandra Fedorova . For this company he choreographed Ghost Town (Rodgers, 1939).

He danced in the musical Oklahoma(1943), by Agnes de Mille , as well as in various movies with the name of Marc Platt.

In 1962 he was appointed director of the Radio City Music Hall Ballet.

He died at 100 years the 29 of March of 2014 in the city of San Rafael, 29 km to the north of downtown San Francisco (California) .
