ArcheAge: How to Build a House

The MMORPG ArcheAge is known for the many freedoms it offers. One of them is to build and design your own house in the open world. In this guide, we will tell you exactly how it works.

How do you build a house? The housing system in ArcheAge is a bit more complex than in many other MMORPGs. Broadly speaking, you must follow the following steps, which we will explain in more detail later:

  • First you need a plan for your house. You can see them on Mirage Island, a special island. You can now buy them on the market for Gilda Coin.
  • So you have to find a place to build in the open world.
  • In addition, you need the right materials to be able to build the house.
  • Last but not least, you must pay taxes regularly so that your house can stay in its place and not be demolished.
  • Alternatively, you can buy an entire house directly from another player. However, the taxes remain.

Even if the steps sound complex at first, housing at ArcheAge can be worth it. In addition to decorating and developing creatively, you can also plant food and even make crafts at home.

Differences between ArcheAge Free2Play and Unchained: In the Free2Play version of ArcheAge, you need a subscription to build a house. Theoretically, however, this can also be bought for gold from other players. In ArcheAge Unchained, each player can build a house.

Build a house in ArcheAge – step by step

Get a Blueprint: First you have to travel to Mirage Island. You can do it through the blue portals on the map. There you can take a look at the houses of your dreams. Then you go to the market and buy the corresponding house. For this you need the Gilda currency (in Unchained you can pay with Gilda or Zeal).

You get Gilda through the story, daily missions, and world bosses and in Unchained as a reward for the premium version of the pass. You also get Zeal, the other currency you need, through missions on the Battlepass.

The houses are available in 16×16, 24×24, 28×28 or 44×44 size fields. The larger the house, the more money and materials you will need to build it.

The most important symbols for housing on the map: In the red circle you can see the settlements, in the blue circle the access to Mirage Island.

Find the right place: The hardest thing about housing in ArcheAge is finding a free place where the house can be built. There are special areas in the game for this, which are also marked as settlements on the map. Since housing takes place in the open world, the building space is limited.

Also, not all construction sites are right for you. Some are in safe areas where PvP does not take place. Others are in the middle of the war zone, which can significantly reduce the relaxation factor. In addition, different housing areas offer different bonuses. Plants grow differently depending on the climate.

So you have to travel and see where you can find a place. One tip is the “demolished houses.” These indicate that the player has not paid his taxes. After a certain time, these houses will be torn down and the space will be free for your own needs.

Build a house: If you have found a suitable location and have a plan for your house, now you can build it. To do this, you need a certain number of wood and stone packages, as well as tax certificates (tax notices). This is the same currency you need for weekly taxes.

For the stone packages you need 300 stones, which you put together into 100 stone bricks. That costs labor points. Then a pack is made of the 100 stone bricks. The same calculation applies to wood. Some houses also need iron.

You can get the tax assessments on the market for credits (real money, Free2Play only) or gold at the auction house, as well as for zeal (Unchained only).

How much tax do you have to pay? Taxes depend on the size and number of your houses. For example, a 16 × 16 house costs 15 taxes. However, if you own multiple houses, you will have to pay more per house in total.

How is the tax paid? At home you can pay the tax up to 5 weeks in advance. If you don’t pay the house on time, you have two weeks to pay the taxes. However, this costs an overdraft fee.

What happens to my house if I don’t pay? If you don’t pay within 2 weeks, your home will be demolished. You will lose a large part of the installation and your work.
