Modules you own

It constitutes a complete solution, advanced and based on industrial, library and computer standards.

The system has modules for circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, online catalog (OPAC) and administration, searches, renewals, availability inquiries for interlibrary loan (GDP), reservations, receipt of expiration notices and allocation of reservations via e-mail .

Tools

This online catalog has powerful search tools that offer users the option of choosing basic or advanced searches, as well as an unlimited number of word and alphabetical indexes.

Tasks it provides users

  • View current loans and renew materials.
  • View loan history.
  • Define a default interface language and record display format.
  • Store specific search results and search strategies on a personal electronic shelf for future retrieval and email this information.
  • Define multiple profiles for the selective dissemination of information (DSI). The DSI service notifies users about the availability of new publications of interest to them.

Use in the world market

More than 1800 Aleph systems are currently installed in libraries and consortia in 63 countries, such as Harvard University, MIT, University of Chicago , University of California, Michigan University, National Autonomous University of Mexico , National Library of Chile , Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile , etc. In Argentina , it has been used successfully since 1998 at the Universidad de San Andrés.

During 2009 , the Logical Systems Group of Chile (GSL), representative Ex Libris, carried out the tasks of installation and parameterization, data migration and training of all library staff; and in February of that year the Aleph 500 system was fully implemented.
