What does 666 mean in Bible

The 66 is the number of the beast in the prophecy of the book of Revelation. The Bible says that 666 is the number of the beast’s name. There are many theories but no one is sure what it means.

The prophecy in Revelation 13 talks about a beast that would be worshiped by many people in the world. No one could buy or sell anything without having marked the name of the beast or the number of his name on his hand or forehead ( Revelation 13: 16-17 ). That number is 666.

We may never know for sure what 666 means or what the beast is, but we need not be afraid. Prophecy speaks about the sin of worshiping another who is not God. Every Christian faces pressure to abandon God but whoever loves Jesus and has his faith in the Bible will overcome all pressure. With or without a beast, we are called to remain faithful , even in difficult situations ( Hebrews 10: 35-36 ).

Some theories suggest that it is 666:

The name of an emperor

At the time the book of Revelation was written, there were many word games that associated numbers with letters of the alphabet, creating puzzles. 666 could be one of those riddles, which early readers could crack. Revelation 13:18 says that it is possible to calculate the number in some way.

The names of several Roman emperors were suggested to be the solution to the 666 riddle, because the Romans were to worship their emperors. The names of many historical figures have also been suggested, usually people who thought they were gods.

Here ‘s what the Bible says about the end times.

The imperfection number

In the Bible the number 7 is associated with perfection. The number 6 is close but does not reach the 7, which could be a symbol of fallen humanity. The number 666 may indicate a desire to be like God but never succeed (fails repeatedly).

There are many other theories as to what 666 could mean, but most are absurd. The problem is that each person adapts his calculations to suit his own theory. Too much information is distorted, invented or ignored to create “evidence”. We must not believe everything ( Proverbs 14:15 ). It is good to apply some knowledge of the Bible and common sense when we hear theories about what 666 means.
