Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro and Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T: Review

In the mobile ranks of Xiomi, another replenishment: a pumped-over Note 8 Pro and a more simplified version of the Note 8T . Is there a difference in appearance, displays, “internals” and photomodules of these mobile phones, which are distinguished by their cost? We arrange a parsing of two edits, with an overview of the main differences and a search for common parameters.

Note: Which of the 2 brands is better – Xiaomi smartphones or iPhone

Key differences between Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro and Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T

Let’s draw parallels for the identical features of 2 devices from the Note line.

Firstly, the Redmiers have the same package bundle:

  • transparent silicone cases,
  • blocks with support for fast charging 18 W,
  • a clip for removing a SIM card,
  • Type-C cords.

Secondly, both variants have an LFS chip. This means that both smart ones can be used as a wallet when paying for purchases at points with special terminals.

Further differences. Key: from the name it is clear that Note is a device with a large screen, Pro is an advanced or professional version, T is a mid-range device.

An important point: in 8T, you can simultaneously install 2 nano-SIM cards and a microSD card. In Note 8 Pro, you will have to sacrifice either one SIM card, or do without expanding the built-in storage, tk. it has a combined SIM tray. Both options support  microSD up to 256 gigs .

Also representatives of “Redmi” differ:

  • the amount of RAM and internal memory,
  • screen sizes,
  • power of chipsets,
  • characteristics of the main PV module and front camera,
  • battery capacity.

Considering all of the above, the price tag of the models varies.

Feature comparisons

What can this advanced version of smart offer to users that the more budget Note 8T does not have: a huge display, a super-powerful chipset, or maybe a mega-cool camera? Rather than guessing, it is better to compare the parameters of both Redmi mobile phones and clearly see what the differences are.

Design

Both phones are made from a combination of materials: plastic + glass. Glass panels are the front and back of smart phones. Protected by heavy-duty 5th generation Gorilla Glass. The frame around the perimeter is plastic, decorated “like metal”. It is pleasant to touch smart phones, they fit comfortably in the palm of your hand.

In the characteristics of 8T it is indicated that an anti-splash special coating is applied to the case, which protects the device from drops. The Note 8 Pro boasts 3D curved glass on all four sides.

The Pro comes in four classic outer shell colors: white , green, gray and blue. 8T has one less color options: blue ( M1908C3XG ), white, gray. An interesting gradient of shades is available.

Rounded corners of the rectangular case, a neat streamlined design is present in both. The only thing is that Note 8T has the “Redmi” logo at the bottom of the screen, while the Pro version does not.

The placement of the block with cameras is also different in mobile phones. It is still on the back cover, but in the 8 Pro it has moved to the center, and in the 8T it is closer to the edge, on the left side.

In terms of body elements, both mobile phones are in complete coincidence:

  • 5 mm headphone jack ,
  • connector for YUSB-charge,
  • power and volume buttons,
  • IR transmitter,
  • microphones and speaker,
  • SIM card slot,
  • scan of prints.

The latter is located on the rear panel: in the center – at 8T; on the plate with cameras (at the very bottom) – for Note 8 Pro.

Despite the slightly enlarged display, the dimensions of the advanced version exceed the “eight” T by only a hundredth of a millimeter. The weight is identical – 199.8 grams.

Screen

Both Note 8 fully justify their name: they have large FHD + displays – 6.53 “for the Pro and 6.3” for the G8 with the T prefix. The resolution of both is 2340 x 1080 pixels. IPS matrix.

The screens are similar in color rendering, contrast ratio (1500: 1), operating modes (day, night, reading). Only the Pro version adds HDR support.

Both smarts are endowed with a keyhole at the top. The width of the frames around the perimeter is minimal. The Note 8T has a slightly wider bottom bezel than the Pro.

Processor, memory, internal storage

In these parameters, one can already feel a clear separation of the advanced Note 8, in which it is set:

  • more powerful gaming chipset MediaTek Helio G90T,
  • chipset with liquid cooling system,
  • video accelerator Mali-G76 MC4.

This does not mean that you shouldn’t get hooked on 8T in games . Its resources are quite enough for gameplay, surfing the net, watching movies and vidos, chatting in instant messengers, etc. The company equipped the Redmi Note 8T with a Snapdragon 665 chipset, and the Adreno 610 is responsible for the graphics.

In numbers, the characteristics of the two smarts look like this:

Options Note 8T Note 8 Pro
Chipset (number of cores / frequency) 8 / 2.0 GHz 8/2 cores at 2.05 GHz +6 at 2.0 GHz
RAM (GB) 3 or 4 6
Built-in storage 32, 64 or 128 64 or  128

Cameras

Both phones have a quad camera with 4 lenses. The modules are arranged vertically in a row on the rear panel of the case.

Basic super clear.

  1. 8 megapixel wide-angle (maximum number of objects in the frame).
  2. 2-megapixel macro (you can shoot a subject very close).
  3. For 2 Mpix portrait shots.

The photomodules differ in the number of megapixels in the main camera. The Note 8 Pro has 64 megapixels, while the 8T has a maximum number of 48 megapixels.

On the front panel of the smart phones, there is a front camera: 20 megapixels for the Pro version and 13 megapixels for a simple “eight”.

Both mobile phones can shoot video in 4K at 30 fps. There is no optical stabilization, only electronic. You can record slow motion videos.

The rear and front cameras are packed in full. Here and AI for recognizing scenes and silhouettes, and many modes for a variety of shooting, and additional functions to improve photos and vidos.

Autonomy

Smartphones differ in battery capacity: for 8T – 4000 mAh, for 8 Pro – 4500 mAh. But due to the fact that the screen of the latter is slightly larger, the chipset is more powerful, which requires more power. The average battery life of both smartphones is almost identical – two days. It all depends on the intensity of using a mobile phone, for example, only calls, correspondence in instant messengers, or a whole day of active gaming.

Price

The cost differs depending on the chosen smart: with the maximum or basic amount of RAM / internal memory. The difference in the price tag between the versions is about 1000 UAH, between 8T and 8 Pro ≈ 2000 UAH.

Take a note: with the release of new “Redmi” smartphones, discounts for the previous models will immediately appear.

If in appearance the difference between smarts is not too noticeable, then the Pro version comes out ahead in terms of performance and size of the RAM. The Note 8T can make up for the missing specs with a lower price tag.

Don’t want to pay more for the MTK gaming chipset, 6 gigs of RAM, the increased number of megapixels in the quad camera? Stop the choice on Note 8 with the T prefix. If you need a professional version of Smart Redmi with all the benefits that come with it, take the advanced Note-eight.
