If your Windows 10 email app doesn’t sync automatically with Outlook.com, here are some troubleshooting steps to help you fix sync issues.

Whenever you experience sync issues, it ‘s a good idea to update your Outlook Mail app and Windows 10. Sometimes, cumulative updates rolled out by Microsoft fix these issues, so make sure you have all the latest OS and Mail app installed.

You can also first go to Settings> Privacy> Calendar and make sure Allow apps to access my calendar is turned on. Once you’ve done this, make sure you’ve correctly configured your sync settings in the Mail app.

Now, if this is your first time setting up your account in the Mail & Calendar app , the Operating System should receive emails and calendar entries from your mail server, which may take a while due to the size and type of content. If problems still occur even after 30 minutes, try the steps below to fix sync issues.

  1. In the Mail app, select Settingsand then select Account Management. Select the account for which you want to sync.
  2. Next, select Change Mailbox Synchronization Settingsfrom the available options.
  3. On the next sheet, from the Load Email Fromdrop-down menu, select Anytime. Likewise, from the Load New Content menu, select as items arrive as the default option. Also make sure the sync option for email and calendar is enabled here.
  4. Click Finishand then click Save to save the settings.

It will now take a while to fetch older content from mail servers and sync it to a registered mail account in Outlook Mail.

Sometimes you cannot select the Change mailbox sync options option because it becomes grayed out. Well, this is temporary as the account may be currently synced, which prevents access to the sync settings for security reasons. You can try again after a while when the option is back in the game.

Finally, you can check if your security software is blocking syncing.
