Who invented Coca-Cola and what is the history of the brand?

In the years of 1886 a pharmacist named John Pemberton, did not know that the drink he had created would end up being the most sold today. At first it wasn’t a soft drink, it was just a syrup that combated digestive problems.

Thanks to the sale of this for 5 cents , he realized that it could be commercialized and be a success in the field of beverages. However, it was his friend Frank Robinson, creator of the brand logo, who became known worldwide. Today, thanks to this management,  Coca-Cola surpasses Pepsi, its main competitor, and has been converted into a multinational.

How did the idea of Coca-Cola come about?

In principle, it was just a drink to solve stomach problems, being a syrup with carbonated water. Accordingly, this was previously made with Coca leaves and nuts, along with Cocaine. But in 1903 it was replaced by Caffeine which gave it a nice flavor.

And with this came the undertaking of John Pemberton with the best and best-selling soft drink today. For a long time, he was mixing flavors until he found the one that would give him the fame of what Coca-Cola is today. So much so, that it has become the favorite drink of many to accompany the best meals.

Where was the first Coca-Cola in history made?

In line with all this, the first one was made in Atlanta, Georgia, being the first state to have the opportunity to test it. But it was in 1891 that ‘ The Coca-Cola Company’ was founded as such,  formed by Asa Candler, Pemberton and brothers together with Robinson. Later years the company is registered in the Office of Industrial Records.

This idea is given to the sale of the formula in 1888, at the hands of Pharmaco Mr. Candler. Along with his ideals, he becomes known as a soda fountain. But at the time it was only marketed in the Atlanta Area . Later, its expansion would come throughout the American continent, both in the North and South, Europe and in Chica, but very little was sold.

Who was your initial creator of Coca-Cola?

As we have mentioned before, Mr. John Pemberton is the original creator of the best-selling soft drink. Being a simple pharmacist, he was looking for ways to progress and acquire more money. With the mixture of several products that he sold and based on syrup at only 5 cents a glass. After this, he improved the flavors and reached what the company is today.

But even so, being the creator of the brand, he sold it and became a partner of the buyer, called Asa G. Candler . This person was the one who improved the product and spread it to great masses. Exporting it in several states of the American continent, where its consumption is one of those that contribute the most capital, being 59% of its profits.

When was Coca-Cola first launched on the market?

Officially, the first was in the year that Pemberton was a pharmacist, that is, in the year 1886. But as a bottled product, one would have to wait until March 12, 1894 in order to see it drunk in glass. One of the biggest sellers and innovators of this product was the Biedenharn Candy Company, this being the cause of the improvement in the soda.

However, currently more than one knowledge of this drink has been shown. One of the first that could be obtained was the Cherry flavor in 1985 and after that the Zero and sugar-free version. After this, the purpose was to reach a greater number of customers, with new flavors.

  • Varieties such as Lemon. It has the original taste but with the addition of lemon.
  • Vanilla Coca Cola, which entered in 2004 and was replaced by Black Cherry Vanilla.
  • With the arrival of Light products, a market was opened in which low-calorie and sugar-free drinks were the objective.

But not according to this, it has expanded its business to another level today, with more products in its power. In the field of soft drinks, it has famous drinks such as Fanta and Sprite .

Also, juices such as ‘Del Valle’, ‘Ades’ together with natural water, are the most sold and produced by the company . The momentum in sales has been growing, especially in Spain with the arrival of the ghost supermarkets of Gorillas.

Why is Coca-Cola called that?

In the most detailed way, the original name of this product is given by Frank Robinson in order to give something more innovative. The word ‘Coca’ comes from the coca leaf extract, which is one of its ingredients. ‘Cola’, comes from the Cola nuts that are also components of said and what makes it have a better flavor.

With the fusion of these flavors, for that time, it was the strangest and most innovative thing that could be had, in the case of soft drinks. Since it was not explained that these ingredients would release something that was refreshing and energizing.

Currently  , Coca-Cola products are diverse and accompany the flagship brand in the international market. It is worth mentioning that the original recipe is kept under lock and key to avoid having other copies of the soft drink. The idea is to maintain the traditional flavor that has remained for decades.
