What is the NFC connection and what is it for

Technically this is a new technology that has been revolutionizing the way we share data and how we make electronic payments in a much easier, faster and more secure way.

Your current phone is likely supported with this technology. You may even be using it for certain things, but you still don’t know exactly what the NFC connection is . Therefore, we invite you to continue reading this article and discover it for yourself or yourself. The good thing is that it is very easy to know if your Android or IOS mobile has NFC.

What is NFC technology or connection?

The acronym NFC refers to its English translation Near Field Communication, which can be translated into Spanish as Near Field Communication .

This is just one of the many wireless technologies which works at a high frequency. Due to the high frequencies, it is a connection that does not have too much range, so much so that two devices with an NFC connection are required to be at a maximum distance of 15 cm.

How does this technology work?

As we already mentioned, it is a technology which uses very high electromagnetic waves to be able to establish communication with another device. As such, the operation is based on the principle of induction in which it is possible to exchange information between two devices with the same built-in technology.

The good thing is that it is a system that you can activate and use in a Samsung Galaxy J in a very easy way. But of course, they are not the only devices that support NFC connections.

To achieve such communication, two devices have to have two different modes. These modes are:

  1. Active NFC mode: It is a mode which is included in devices with power sources that are capable of generating their own electromagnetic field. This generated field is capable of being used to exchange information with any other device.
  2. The passive NFC mode: in these cases, the devices do not have a power source that allows the creation of an electromagnetic field. They are called passive since they require an additional device to be able to generate said field and thus establish the interconnection of two devices.

You might be wondering what all this means about the NFC modes of mobile devices . It is quite simple to understand: while in passive mode the flow of data and information is bidirectional, in the other mode it is only unidirectional.

That is, with the active mode you can send and receive information, while with the passive mode you can only receive information.

What are the uses that are being given to NFC technology?

Surely you have seen that this technology has been implemented to make payments immediately. Thanks to this, a viable alternative has been made for those who request and use Paypal prepaid cards .

So much is its potential in this area, that more and more countries are joining to implement this technology in businesses, shopping centers and companies that sell products or services.

In this sense, NFC technology allows each of the credit or debit cards to be digitized so that they are not needed to make payments at points of sale. Of course, not all companies are compatible with this technology … at least not yet.

In the same way, we can say that, thanks to this new payment system, little by little the use of physical credit and debit cards are no longer being used.

And you will surely think that this is the only application that has NFC . If you believe this, you should extend this topic with Sony’s support for NFC technology . But to sum it up in simple words, NFC can be implemented as a way of linking two devices.

This means that instead of turning on the bluetooth of two computers, linking them and so on, you simply make use of said technology and you will have already connected both devices very quickly.
