What is the meaning of the current Walmart logo?

As we all know, Walmart is a super company focused on selling products and providing services. It has a large number of branches, stores and supermarkets around the planet and is considered one of the most successful companies in its field of all time. It works as a multinational and maintains general development in optimal condition .

But we must remember that this company started in 1962 in Arkansas, USA. It had to go through a lot of obstacles and barriers to become what it is today. From its organizational culture to the evolution of its respective logo. All facets were part of the evolution of Walmart over the years.

For now we will talk a little about the continuous evolution of its logo, from its beginnings to what it is now. We will also review the reason for each of these changes. Here we will show you some chapters about the history of the Walmart logo. Stay with us and find out all the data, information and details about this interesting story.

What was the evolution of the Walmart logo?

It all started between 1945 and 1950 , when a small businessman named Sam Walton came up with a novel idea. Set up your own store focused on selling all kinds of necessary products at affordable prices for the community. It is in this way that in mid-1962 Sam Walton introduced the first Walmart in Arkansas.

This was christened “Walmart Discount City . ” The first logo presented by Sam is based on some fairly basic letters with the title “Walmart” in a total light blue. This logo was present in the company for 15 years. It took all this time for the new ideas to be presented to the front of the company.

It is here when new trends were presented, focused almost entirely in the purest Western style. This logo was completely invaded by these roots, it was represented in a black color and was predisposed to implements such as legends and phrases around the respective logo. This was in the family until 1981 when the new options were presented.

In 1981, Walmart launched a new logo very similar to the one originally presented, but this time with a stronger and thicker typeface. Each of its letters is much larger compared to the one from its beginnings and the old blue color is totally eradicated. Instead of this there is a brown color outlining all the letters.

This previous logo was quite liked to the point that it was not until 1991 that a new modification was made . Again the blue color of its beginnings was once again present, radically erasing the old brown. The letters are still just as thick and now the script that divided Wal and Mart is a star, representing the power of the brand.

We finally reached the last and most radical change of all, this took place in 2008 and is the same logo that we have today in all Walmart stores. The font changed, now we can see the letters in lowercase. In addition, the script and the star were eliminated, giving way to a new, much more representative symbol for the company.

What is the meaning of the current Walmart logo?

Just as other sales-focused companies such as Mercado Libre and Amazon have renewed their logos, Walmart was not far behind and ended up doing the same with theirs in a splendid and magnificent way.

The logo launched and unveiled by Walmart in 2008 featured quite a few significant changes but not all of us were clear with the new symbol replacing the star. This one has a pretty deep meaning.

This icon is about a spark, which represents the inspiration and innovation of the original creator of the company (Sam Walton) at the moment of taking the great step of taking that course. As it also represents the effort and motivation of all the members of this great company.
