What is Nintendo Switch Online?
Nintendo Switch Online is a subscription service that, as the name suggests, lets the Switch access online functionality. It is a requirement to play over the internet, whether with friends or other acquaintances.
Although not all games require a subscription to allow online games, most games, especially those published by Nintendo itself, will have this requirement to release online gambling.
Backup progress to the cloud
Another Nintendo Switch Online offering is the backup of game saves in the cloud. Thus, even if the console is lost or the user has more than one Switch, it can synchronize the progress between the devices.
Remember that not all games offer a cloud backup, as is the case with Pokémon Sword & Shield or Pokémon Let’s Go .
Without Nintendo Switch Online, the transfer of saved data must be done manually and with the two consoles close and functional.

Nintendo Switch Online app
The Nintendo Switch Online app is available for Android and iOS to work around an absence on the brand’s console: voice chats. This is the main function of the app, to serve as a complement to the Switch so that players can chat with friends during a game.
Not all games support in-app voice chat ( full list here ). In some cases, as in other developers’ games, the solution is to explore a third-party option, such as Discord , Skype or another voice or video calling platform.
