location

It is located in the municipality of Choluteca , in Honduras .

Meaning

Celaque means box of water and from there numerous streams and rivers are born that are the source of water for 120 communities .

Features

Within the northeast of the country and with nine thousand feet of height , the highest peak or mountain in Honduras rises towards the sky from the continental basins .

Eleven rivers have their source here that in turbulence and crystalline songs flow down its slopes, thus giving it the name it bears, Celaque, which in the native language means “Cajon de Agua” or something like that.

The height of this and its location, which is between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea , means that all the time it is between mist and dew, creating an environment of humidity and quality of habitation for a complex and extensive fauna and unique flora of the region . The presence of countless animals on the endangered list has been found , such as the Puma , the Ocelot and the Spider Monkey , as well as countless birds .
